Etihad Atmosphere - 2021/22

Sorry but that's BS, he's mentioned it in the past and subsequently apologised so he knows the narrative.

He could easily have put a positive spin on the message, thanking the fans for attending despite a ticketing fiasco.
What did he say? The quote I have seen was harmless.

Agreed. I have been to virtually every match in the stadium and it was late forties. There were gaps at the top of Colin Bell and smatterings in the ends but it was decent.

The atmosphere on CL nights is normally good because the away fans are normally noisy but there were almost no visiting fans at all. I tried counting them. I think there was 40
I got moved into cb3 from ss3
and i wouldn't say there were 40
looked about 20 to me and fair play to them too

It wasn't 38k. That's on the BBC but it has to be wrong
What was the crowd ?

Our utterly shite website has no mention of it. In the match report there are oodles of irrelevant stats that nobody cares about yet they dont give the attendance figure.

The Pink Final must be spinning in its grave

Roll on the bigger Champions League games when it will be full and the atmosphere raucous.
The atmosphere against Liverpool in 2018 and Spurs in 2019 was superb. Likewise it would have been off the scale in 2020 for Real Madrid if not for Covid. Same last season for Dortmund and PSG.

Liverpool's famed "magical European nights under the lights" (puke) was built on the historic norm on having lower attendances in the earlier rounds or group stage matches. The attendances below were for the first 5 seasons when they went on to actually win the European Cup. I've highlighted the low and the high.

Villa fans have been trying to mock our attendance from last night. Read some comments last night about how Villa Park would be packed to the rafters and rocking if they were in the Champions League (something we'll never know I suppose)
As they love banging on about winning the European Cup 40 years ago here's their attendances

First Round - 20,481
Second Round - 28,175
Qtr Final - 38,579
Semi Final - 38,539

There was a crowd of over 46,000 for the 1981 semi final between City and Ipswich. So none of their European Cup games came near to selling out.
