OJ Simpson dead

America is far more divided on racial lines than the UK. Pretty much everyone who is black thought he was innocent and still do, everyone else thought he was guilty, me too.

Black jurors appeared on TV after saying how they’d convinced other jurors he was innocent.

Idiots.

Calm down Calm down

I was only filling in some blanks since you had to google him.

He got found not guilty btw in a law court btw

I’m not a Scouser, Bert.

Yes… that’s right… there’s never ever been a miscarriage of justice in the history of criminal trials.

I’ve had to Google it as I’m nowhere near as old as the OAP clique on here.

well currently the main news story is Angela Raynor selling her house over a decade ago.
I live very near her house in Ashton (Weymouth Road) don’t see her that often these days. Houses on there are worth around up to £600k, I know that’s not a lot in London but it buys you a very decent gaff up here.

I think she’s fucked off down south now living with another Labour MP, but she still obviously has to return to her constituency every week or so, she seems to be doing well out of property.

I think he was nicked for stealing what he thought was his own property though, it wasn't a standard "Stick Up"
He was told by some friends that someone was selling his signed memorabilia. He said it had been nicked and wasn’t doing well for coin, so wanted to get it back to sell for himself.

The problem was that he didn’t go to the Police and tell them these things were nicked. Instead, he and a small group of mates went to the hotel WITH GUNS and demanded the stuff. (Armed Robbery)

To make matters worse, one of the men in the room tried to run off and they stopped him at gunpoint. (Kidnapping)

While it was an adult storm in a teacup, because it was OJ and almost all of it was caught on video (it was a casino in Vegas ffs!!), he was caught bang to rights and got the book thrown at him! (And rightly so!)

Fucker lived a privileged life, even AFTER the murders and civil suit judgment, and he never paid the Goldman family a penny of the millions he owed them.

He basically confessed to the murders in a video interview, giving details about how it happened and that another person was with him (“Charlie” pseudonym), with many people believing that was his son.

Good riddance.

Yes, heard that. There was very little chance of the glove fitting. Hence why the lady prosecutor didn't want OJ to try it on in the first place. Turned into a circus with his theatrics of attempting to put it on.

TBH even if it slid on and OJ didn't pretend to struggle with it I don't believe there was any changing of that jury's mind. Disgraceful.
The gloves had been hardened and crumpled from blood and being left outside. Throw in the fact that OJ had to attempt to put them on while wearing rubber gloves AND that they may have been worn by a family accomplice and it was a big mistake!!!

“If the glove doesn’t fit, you must acquit!”

America at the time could be seen as it was by the verdict…white people looked physically sick when the verdict was announced and black people were delirious with joy and dancing around!

And here we sit…

Mark Fuhmnan, the lead detective with decades of experience was grilled on the stand regarding the N word. Had he EVER used it? Was it indicative of how he felt about black people? They had him on tape using the word, which he said was for a book he was writing.

For black people, that was all they needed! Just another racist LA cop. For white people, it was “who hasn’t said that word in the last 40 years? Blacks say it all the time about themselves, so what’s the big deal?”

And here we sit…

they removed all the pictures of Simpson and his white golfing buddies...of which there were many....replacing them with African art....not sure what they did with his statue in the back yard...

Do you know, I thought that was my imagination because I never understood it then and still don't!!

Thanks for the reminder!

SOME Black people thought he was innocent. Most didn't care, but hoped he'd get off with it, but it was a real long shot.

I remember this period because 'Public Enemy' were very much the spokespersons of that time for Black people. Though I don't remember them advocating for Simpson, they didn't support him cos he kept himself at a distance from the community. They spoke in a time racism was overt and many Black citizens were slaughtered by White police and they walked free.

For the Black community, there were most that wanted just 'one thing to go their way'. It was so odd to watch the celebrations for an obvious guilty crime. I remember understanding both sides of the response back then.

I remember Judge Ito (?) becoming a mini celebrity afterwards.

America is so fucked up.
