I still remember the drive home from that match, convinced Sturridge and Robinho were going to be the future of City for years to come.

Great memories! I remember being on 5live 606 after the game, Alan Green tried to say robinho was offside. I said I couldn't care less if he'd handballed it off his backside, a goals a goal!

One of the best atmospheres I can recall at Maine Rd, and a very memorable night for those of us that were there.

The video is short and doesn't capture how loud we were that night, but it will jog a few memories for those of us standing in the rain outside the Kippax waiting for the turnstiles to open.

The first game at Anfield the previous Saturday was brilliant albeit a bit scary City filled the old Anfield Road End estimated 15k went
Great scenes around Lime St after the game plus Millwall played and knocked Everton out at Goodison same day mayhem
That Cup run had some great times on and off the pitch
Stoke at home scousers then Sunderland and the replay
Should have put Sunderland away at Maine Rd I was convinced we were going to win it that year

Some classic games mentioned here.
The 4-0 win v Madrid was about as perfect I’ve ever seen City play, and against top opposition.
Another memorable match worth a mention was in that 94/95 season, immediately before the Spurs 5-2 win. QPR away and City down to 9 men held on for a 2-1 win. Probably set us up for that classic Spurs victory.

Was at QPR for that game, great day until the old bill raped our coach of all our beer for the way back.
Killjoys

City v Spurs is a classic City fixture.

Throughout football history we are very evenly matched:
P174 W69 D37 L68 F270 A242

We are the 4th and 5th most successful clubs in English football:
City with 36 trophies (we are joint 4th with Chelsea who have also won 36), Spurs with 27 trophies.

We are 6th (City with 96) and 8th (Spurs with 90) for most seasons in the top flight.

We are 6th (City with 5,743 points) and 8th (Spurs with 5,409 points) in the all-time league table.

Our first ever encounter was a 3-4 defeat at Hyde Road.
As I mentioned about the 1957-58 season previously, we beat them 5-1 at Maine Road then lost 5-1 to them at White Hart Lane and then beat them 5-1 at Maine Road again in the first half of the 1958-59 season.
In the 1961-62 season we beat them 6-2 at Maine Road and then a few months later early in the 1962-63 season lost 4-2 to them at WHL.
The famous ‘Balet On Ice’ 4-1 win in 1967-68 on our way to the title is a true City classic, when the whole country sat up and took note of how good we were.
We also beat them 4-0 at Maine Road in 1968-69, 4-0 at Maine Road in 1971-72 and 5-0 at Maine Road in 1976-77.

Our record against them at that point was very good.

Then in our next 50 games with them we only beat them 11 times. The most famous games are obviously the 1980-81 FA Cup final and replay, plus a few of the rare wins for us against them in that period were the 5-2 win in 1994-95 at Maine Road and the great 3-4 comeback FA Cup game in 2003-04 at WHL.

Over the last decade or so we’ve piecked up somewhat again with some big wins, but there have been some big wins for them too, and some top class encounters:
2011-12 Spurs 1 City 5
2011–12 City 3 Spurs 2 (Balotelli last minute penalty winner)
2013-14 City 6 Spurs 0
2013-14 Spurs 1 City 5
2014-15 City 4 Spurs 1
2015-16 Spurs 4 City 1
2017-18 City 4 Spurs 1
The 2018-19 Champions League games (1-0 at Spurs and 4-3 at the Etihad with the drama throughout and especially at the very end)
A bit of revenge for 1981 with a 1-0 win in the 2020-21 EFL Cup final
2021-22 City 2 Spurs 3
2022-23 City 4 Spurs 2
2023-24 City 3 Spurs 3
2024-25 City 0 Spurs 4

This is one of the great fixtures of English football and easily our most dramatic outside our rivalry with United.

We also had two epic FA Cup Quarter Finals against them at Maine Road. We beat them 1-0 in 1969 (Lee) and the one which ended in a riot after Phelan scored a brilliant goal.

Made the mistake of leaving early, by the time we got back to the car it was 2-2. Have still never seen City get a result at Ewood Park. Good job I wasn't there in 2000!

As mentioned earlier we’ve had some cracking games against Tottenham. Absolutely loved the Maine Road 5-2 and the 1-5 at Tottenham (Dzeko) but the 5-0 when Peter Barnes sat down Pat Jennings was of my very favourite memories from being a kid.

This one sticks in the memory for me. Outstanding goals and those KDB crosses were something else. It was bringing tears to my eyes in SS3 because I was gutted my Dad wasn't getting to watch this amazing football while he was very ill in hospital, soon to pass away.

KDB was world class that day. If Pep hadn't taken him off after the 6th goal we would have scored ten. He was creating chances for fun.

I started watching City and have had a season ticket ever since 1983-84

Here’s my list of classic City matches from 1983-4 to now.

I’ve gone for the good, the bad and the ugly. I’m sure I’ve probably missed some stone cold classics.

If I’ve got the years incorrect I’ve done it from memory. Feel free to correct anything.

This will always be a classic

I've been a season ticket holder since 1977. That night was the best performance I've ever seen from any City side - especially given the stakes, and who the opponent was. The atmosphere in the Etihad was electric too.

My top 5 at Maine Rd
5 City 3 Liverpool 1 October 77
4 City 3 Utd 3 November 71
3 City 2 Liverpool 1 August 91
2 City 5 Charlton 1 May 85
1 City 4 Boro 0 February 76
These games stick in an old mans memory, more recent games will be mentioned by younger contributors.

There are some Inter chances in that Champs League final, particularly from the hour mark onwards, that make me flinch and hide behind my hands nearly as much as they did on the night.
Is the full match not available anywhere. Haven’t seen it since that night
