The win at Molineux saw former Academy player James Trafford make his City debut with Ederson ruled out through illness.

Guardiola confirmed said that the Brazilian is fit to play and he will make a decision on who will take the gloves after training.
Ederson starting tomorrow would annoy more than this supposed in/out transfer. Trafford earned the right last week to keep the shirt for now. As for Eddie, legend of the club, but City have set a fair price for a keeper of his standing even with 12 months left on his contract. If Galatasaray ain't prepared to meet it then let him go for free in 12 months. Donnarumma would of been a nice signing, but not a crucial one IMO.

100% this. Said the dame a couple weeks ago. If City wanted this change, they would accept a lower fee for ederson, and get the business done. We have seen them do this on so many occasions. The fact they are haopy to hold out for a fee they see as worthwhile, means they are happy to not let the player go unless it is for a few that is right for the club.

Same with Savinho, while we are at it.

Not often the best keeper in the world wants to come and most clubs would jump at it but let’s hope ederson has now learnt to save shots and the main thing give a fuck as last season and so far this season he hasn’t given a fuck .

This is such a disingenuous dismissal that's been used constantly in this transfer saga. There are well known deficiencies in his game even without the much discussed ability with his feet. Yes, he is one of the best in the world. But he's not the clear candidate for that title by any means.

Also, I'm not the poster you're responding to, but no, I don't always want the best player in the world. I want the best player for City and I'm not sure he is that. Also, I'm the sort of fan who would always prefer a local player given a run, and failing that, an academy product. Yeah there's a higher degree of patience needed with academy players, but its more exciting to me when we have those players in the side.

I know these days instant gratification and shiney new toys and fifa ratings are trendy.
There's 10 other players on the pitch who's job is to be good with their feet - in my opinion it's become a crutch relying on Ederson for it.

Having a local player is fantastic of course but not at the expense of challenging. Without Donnarumma we have the choice between a keeper who for now is only proven in the championship, and one who by all accounts doesn't even want to be here.

I get what you're saying, but surely Eddie has banked some good will from us over the past 10 years no? It's not like he's pulling an Isak here

An equally valid point mate. However his form the last 12/18 months wasn't great and his head must surely be all over the gaff. I'd stick with Trafford at least until the end of the transfer window and or until he gives Pep a reason to bring Ederson back.

If he starts today then I reckon he’s staying. You don’t just bring him in automatically over Trafford for the sake of one game.

If you listen to Peps press conference it’s quite clear he isn’t starting today.

I wouldn't say 'quite clearly'. I'd say highly unlikely given Trafford's performance last week & the ongoing noise surrounding Ederson's departure.

Donnarumma is obviously offski from PSG, & it's reported he wants City above all others. We'll need to replace Ederson & I can't think of a better keeper for that than Gianluigi.

However, it's Trafford I feel sorry for. Imagine returning to your boyhood club to shadow the No 1 for a season with a view to replacing him in 12 months time, only for the current No 1 to leave a season early, only to be replaced by a 26 year old keeper considered the best in the world? If I were Trafford, I'd be fuckin pissed!

My hope is that game time between the sticks is shared far more equally for our two main keepers than during Ederson's time here.

Guys as Istanbul related is there anyone here familiar with Istanbul. Was thinking of a few days cheap break. Can u get a public bus from the Atuturk Airport to SultanAhmet in the old city? May be a group of lads once we fix numbers and wanted to keep costs down. Any advice on Transport appreciated.

Isn’t the problem here so much not on Ederson’s skills as a player but mostly that he wants out.
His head is not here having achieved everything and is trying to get out for the las two years.
Hence moving to new motivated keepers in Trafford and maybe Donna
