It's Quiet the £250m return

We played the last two FA Cup finals with de Bruyne and won neither. He was a great player but we must move on, and we need to transition into a team that is no longer reliant on one individual to create chances and one individual to score chances.

The first one the team was drunk
The 2nd one the team had just drawn to statistically the worst side in PL history and Pep made lineup errors. Thats should tell you the level of the team.

I strongly believe this club won trophies mainly because of KDBs individual brilliance. Bar 18/19 we haven’t won a title without him dragging us over the finish line.

The club should’ve saw that and did everything it could to ensure the machine keeps ticking

Should have gone big for him and Baleba.

City hierarchy have been found wanting and caught with their pants down by liverpool going big this summer.

The City top brass this summer needed to stop being so afraid of criticism of our spending and blow everyone out of the water.

As it is they went too cute and clever on players no other top team wanted and now we're stuck with mediocrity and possibly another rebuild needed in 3 years to get rid of them.
Not sure about Baleba. He has many good qualities but I think we'd be buying potential rather than established quality. Brighton actually improved after he went off.

It’s not going to happen now, but not signing a right-back in this window is a massive dereliction of duty from those in charge.
In fairness to the club, I don't think there was anyone realistically we could get who would've fit the profile we wanted.

Football is about the here and now....the future becomes more difficult if we don't take care of the now

.look what happened to the rags and scousers when they got complacent ...this could be the start of a very slippery slope
There are always going to periods when a club drops off slightly, due to aging players new managers etc the rags under GPC went three seasons without winning PL I don’t disagree there was an element of complacency last summer but this was recognised and steps taken in January and more in the summer we have to accept that there will be a period of bedding in People want instant results

Viana unless completely clueless can see this current squad aint up to the standards we used to have and neither to match similar points tally with Liverpool who spent big and spent on quality and also with Arsenal who spent almost 300m just this summer making their squad really deep.

the big worry is that most our recent transfers aint fitting the Pep way. its like we are building for a transition team. no idea if its due to building a squad for Pep's successor whoever that may be, and happy to watch it go up in flames while Pep is struggling to make a functioning team of these players.

that summer of losing Palmer and Mahrez and signing Doku because he is great at dribbling. he is, but will he influence games regularly for City?

recruitment looks a mess ad tactically its also a mess. we started sign players who are good at beating the press ad run with the ball that was the mantra with Kovacic, Nunes, Doku etc but we never made changes to the way we play, even last season Pep was scared to bench KDB who we told long before June we wont renew with him but still featured heavily to last games. he never played Nunes in midfield either. surely we didnt sign him as we thought he could be a RB for us.

Marmoush another player that excels at transition but in a side playing for slow build up, possession based he looks like he doesnt belong here. not even a clear position for him yet. stick him out wide like Grealish, and he struggles. make him inverted winger he comes in centrally like at Frankfurt rather than try to stay left of Halland and pick up positions from the left.
60m for somebody we dont know how to use and get the best out of him.

now Donnarumma who is apparently the opposite of what Pep wants from a keeper being extremely comfortable with passing so wo can invite pressing and beat pressing by quick and accurate passing from the back. but with who now? Donnarumma, Nunes, Lewis, Dias, Khusanov etc? thats gonna be Benny Hill show if we keep doing the passing from the back with them.

I dont see the logic in recruitment and tactics. its like we are making transfers as we aware we need to change tactically and for that different profils needed but Pep aint changing the tactics. even now brought in brand new coaches to further make these changes but we are still stuck and not sure Pep fully want to change that much, but this leaves us with trying to play like whn he had players in their prime llike Ederson, Dias, Walker, Stonnes, Bernardo, Gundo, KDB, Mahrez, Sterling fcking hell that 8/9 starters who are not here or past it and the replacements are simply worse or very young or just flops.

We've spent £450m since January and what's the return?

Barely any are bonafide world class and in the meanwhile we've seen our rivals sign players that immediately improved their starting XI.

Walker wanted to leave two years ago and we don't have a right back. We're been drunk on success and it's inhibiting us now. The last top class player we've signed was Gvardiol.

City hierarchy have been asleep at the wheel, convinced Pep will work wonders with mediocre players.

Also too busy spending money on stands and hotels that weren't needed.

So a transfer forum is created for someone to just feed horseshit and pretend he’s some ITK. Transfer forums are surely for discussions on who people would like or who improves the team. Not to play on the current desperation of the club to sign players and gain some traction off the hope of members.

By your reasoning we should all just sit here, pretend we’re ITK otherwise the transfer forum has no use.
You’re taking it far too fucking serious. Grow up.

We’re winning the derby 2-1?

In fairness to the club, I don't think there was anyone realistically we could get who would've fit the profile we wanted.
They can't really win can they - wait for tino or gusto and they're slated for not acting, but buy in a 2nd rate RB who's no real improvement just to say they have and it's called a "panic buy".

I don't get which RB has actually moved that people thought we should have gone for, it's such a big topic and still there's no name we "missed out on".

If his contract had not expired, he would still be here, but it was the right time for him to move on. We’d become terribly reliant on him, to the point that in 23-24 we seemed to be mentally frozen and lacking all creative invention. The same was becoming true in terms of goal scoring and Haaland. When your point of threat is one man, it becomes so much easier to defend. The club is going down a different route, belatedly, and it will just take time for them to gel.

I think this is a bit harsh in relation to the 3 lads we’ve done. I think there would have been a lot of clubs in for Cherki, well reported scouse manager met with him but Wirtz was their first choice.

Reijnders a decent addition to the squad, hopefully in time will prove to be a good first 11 player too when he adjusts to the pace of the prem (World Cup winner David Silva took half a season to do that).

Ait Nouri struggled a bit today but he was our best player by far at CWC, was solid vs Wolves and playing well vs spurs before his injury.

The problem is we needed to do way more business. We’ve ignored right back and ignored the lack of G/A from the wing as well as other key areas for me. Savinho situation should have been sorted earlier in the window, if they genuinely didn’t want to sell him they should have moved Doku on and upgraded. I also think we needed another ready to play top class centre back to play in the first 11 with Gvardiol and one of Kova / Bernardo should have gone to make room for someone with decent athleticism in the middle of the pitch. There’s an argument of making too many changes at once, but this is going to be a transition season anyway we won’t challenge for league/ CL so we should have finished the major surgery needed.

I get your point, but sometimes I think you have to gamble. They wanted Livramento so obviously know that we need a right-back (they’re not fucking stupid!) so you either go balls out for him or, failing that, have a contingency plan. What happens if no-one fits the exact profile next summer either? Can’t write off another season with Nunes and Lewis, whilst we bide our time. I fail to believe there wasn’t a better, attainable option than those two out there this summer.
