England v Andorra - Sat 6th Sept '25, 17:00 | World Cup Qualifier

I watched a few minutes of our back four playing with themselves, then turned it off.

Two things.

1) What the fuck is Wright going on about? You'd think we were playing Spain the way he's talking.

2) What the fuck is that thing on Wright's head?
I think it's a rubber football without the bladder and someone's trodden on it and Wrighty has come along and thought "Wow, that would make a fuckin' great hat!'

Just wondered how the atmosphere sounded on tv.I went in the Holt end expecting a good one. Just like most other games away from Wembley last couple of years Forrest,Newcastle Old Trafford and now Villa the cockneys leave at half time having got there ticket through the turnstile and getting there cap.The crowd was given as 39000 probably 15000 at full time. Its no different at Wembley though to be honest unless its the Euros.

For the most part it was deathly quiet, but given the mind numbing crap on the field the majority of the crowd were probably asleep.

Judging by the comments both here and in the media, the fact that I didn't watch the game means I didn't miss anything. And if this is the case the question I have to ask is why.

Why have the England team become a bland, insipid shadow of the the England teams from way back? What has happened to the sense of pride and determination players used to have when putting on the shirt? Where is the famed bulldog spirit that was the backbone of the '66 winning side, or the '70's team in Mexico that went so close?

I am hearing Rashford once again proved he has no business rubbing shoulders with professional footballers, and yet he's one of the first names on the sheet. I suppose Pickford (if he played) was once again hoofing the ball into the stratosphere from every clearance, and screaming at his defenders if he has to do anything to justify his wages.
And the mouth-breather extraordinaire probably spent most of the time just outside of the opponent's penalty area, hands on hips, patiently waiting for his teammates to do the work for him just so that he can grab another tap-in (or something even more predictable...another penalty against sub-standard opposition).

I've blocked that Hammers fan who comes on here a lot so I don't interact with him, but I pity those of you that do. Because I daresay he'll be telling you all how un-patriotic you are for not foaming at the mouth and collapsing into the fiery throes of hysteria whenever Rashford has the ball, or chastising you for not accepting that France, Germany, Spain etc will be quivering with fear at the prospect of coming face to face with an England team whose idea of progress is to find different ways to pass the ball either sideways or backwards.

Think of the most boring game under the waistcoat and yesterday's probably eclipsed it. Of course Andorra played eleven men behind the ball and the commentator said they haven't conceded more than three goals in eighteen months or something, so they defended very well and their keeper had a blinder when he was called into action.
As for your old mate Blue Hammer he took the positives out of it, I do admire his unswerving loyalty to the England team. The only positive yesterday was we won and no City players were injured in the process ( As none thankfully played )

Internationally football is on the whole tepid crap, particularly these qualifying games. I rarely see a decent game and anybody who supports a club side who competes for honours hates them. That is due to the disruption to their season and injuries that often occur to their players. Fans of lesser and lower league sides with no chance of winning a trophy are usually more enthusiastic about them as they hope their international team will fetch them some glory. I fear for England fans that could be another sixty years at least on yesterday's showing.

I've always blamed the FA in the past and accused them of interfering with the selection process, how else do you account for the number of caps Beckscum stole in his career? Now Rashford, etc. But that surely can't always be the case? No manager worth their stripes is going to allow a bunch of men in suits to tell them which player to choose and which player not to choose. So the fact that Tuchel seems intent in picking players that do not, through form or injury, justify selection in the England squad is down to him and him alone? Same as previous incumbents, Waistcoat, Hodgson etc.
Maybe the entire set up needs dismantling, a massive clear out, and a back-to-basics approach might be the answer. Start at the beginning and even if it takes decades until we've got a system that works, work at it. Eventually it will yield results, surely? We cannot continue in the way we have been for so many years because it quite obviously is not working. We did reasonably ok under the Waistcoat but that was more luck than judgment, it certainly was not because he was a superior tactician and we had better players.

Mate we've been down every conceivable route known to man. The harsh truth is certain countries are just better at football than we are, especially Spain and France. In fairness to waistcoat he probably realised this and while his tactics bored everybody to death he was successful, obviously without winning anything, but for getting us closer than anybody since Ramsey.

Clough wanted to do that hence the FA not giving him the job.

Cloughie would not have tolerated any of the backstage shenanigans that appear to have dogged the England manager's job for the past 40-odd years. He would definitely have ruffled too many feathers at the FA - and not given two fucks about it, either. Which is why he never got the job, as we all know.

This is the man who sat at home one night and glanced at the television as HM the Queen made an appearance, he peered over the top of the newspaper he was reading and simply said: "She's met me," and continued his reading.

Or maybe most England players are made to look better then they are my their foreign team mates.

Foden outstanding for City, but when playing with knobheads like bellend, Rashford, taa, T'rex, they arent fit to lace KDB, Fernandinho, eddy, Rodri etc boots. Phils brain works at a much higher level then those English knobheads

I'm convinced this was the reason for the Dipper/Rags cliques pre Southgate.

Henderson and Gomez turning on Raz showed it has gotten out of hand.

Think the cliques came back under southgate at the end. Bellend and taa seem to have to much say. Phils form dropped off a cliff after that tournament. Southgate even played taa in midfield over Phil

I agree.

Can't prove it but I think Phil was bullied by the jealous cunts and its fucked him mentally.

Holt reported a few days ago that there is also a split in the dressing room over Jude Bellingham as his Dad has apparently had his tirades to push England to make him a "special case".

Comes after Mark Bellingham was reported to have stormed the tunnel at Dortmund after the Saint Pauli game berating the Dortmund sporting director, Kiel, demanding why his other son, Jobe was taken off.

All starts to make sense why Jude in particular has an arrogant streak. Like father like son.

It's the golden generation all over again and Tuchel is the new Capello.
