Pep Guardiola - 2025/26

Great decision to play Khusanov at RB, also good was allowing Doku to leave the wing sometimes and drift centrally (if that was Pep's decision and not Doku going rogue lol).

He needs to sort out the midfield though, can't have a midfield performance like that in the next two games.

Are we surrendering the ball to full back positions more on purpose? Are the purchases of two very tall keepers part of this?

I'm just connecting dots perhaps where dots don't exist but it feels to me teams get to our full back position quite a lot and we defend from there.

Today we definitely didn't look as manic about holding onto the ball as much, we engineered some counter situations and it looked good.

Watched him a lot today. Saw him praise Gigi a lot with his distribution, corrected him on what he should have done and thumbs up from the GK. haaland making him do a lap of honour with the team made me laugh lol.

Didn’t seem impressed with nico or savinho when they came on. And not surprising really.

Post match interview was interesting, worth a watch if you haven't. Happy for him, hopefully we can get as many back to match fitness as possible.

Yes, didn't really see the point of bringing Sav on, good to rest them but maybe a more defensive move and let erl rest too. I was a bit too excited at the time to give it a bigger think than that.

Donarumma: World Class
John Stones World Class
Dias: Semi World Class
Gvardiol: Semi World class
Rodri: World Class
Foden: World Class
Reinjnders: Potential World Class
Haaland: World Class.

We literally have a World Class spine, there is zero excuse for losing to anyone other than the top echelon.

APep must not let Brighton and Spurs happen again thos season.

I can take losing a game coz we were unlucky. But we shouldn't lose any game to anyone orher than top teams .

Pep, keep fixing it :)

John has never been close to world class

Dias and stones not world class but with gvadiol back they look better .

Next two games (Napoli, Arsenal) will be a better test of how we’re improving, or not. The seven games thereafter are arguably less demanding, and it’s a pity we’re not having those seven first, as some players look understandably rusty and just need to play. On that point, with the three-goal cushion secured at 68 minutes, some substitutions could have been made earlier yesterday.

Picking Khus at RB was great and we looked good in transition - but for better passing, we'd have had more chances. He got a great tune out of Haaland, Doku & Foden - all had great games.

I think the midfield was poor throughout - Rodri was very rusty but was very isolated; Reijnders wasn't great and Bernardo was a bit weak but also essentially a wingback. I'm surprised that Pep didn't shore it up earlier by bringing on Nico in a midfield 2. By swapping Nico for Rodri, it didn't really resolve any issues we had, as he was just as isolated. Odd that Pep has done it a few times now.

I think at this point we're just trying to manage Rodri back into the team. He looked the weakest of the midfielders today but I'm 99% sure that was rustiness.

Thought we were very good and if we'd have been even more clinical we had a 5/6-0 potentially.

The skill by Doku on the first goal is outstanding. Takes out three players with one move.

Yeah I get that with Rodri - it's not a concern for me, as it's clear it's rust & match fitness. And I understand at that point, Rodri was subbed as he was knackered. However, our midfield was poor against a limited United team and I would have preferred an earlier sub (Bernardo or Reijnders for Nico G), to have a better base. Like for like at that point didn't help anything.
