Cool stuff on the radio

I used to love listening to the 'Great American Songbook' on radio every Sunday night, with Andrew Castle presenting the show until it ended .... some great music was played on there, very relaxing.

Podcast about Viraj Mendis

I knew Father John and his wife, Bridget. I lived in Hulme and taught at St Philip's C of E. We had close ties to the Church of the Ascension and he was a frequent visitor. Bridget taught there, too. We took our classes there for all the big occasions. He was a proper character- loved Elvis, lol. It's a beautiful church and the bit they lived in, at the back, where Mendes took Sanctuary, was like something out of Grand Designs. Nice garden too, lol. This was the late 90's.

I play it for the old boy I help to care for, he suffers with dementia, it amazes me how he doesn't even know his wife's name and can't remember what was said 30 seconds previously yet within the first couple of bars of any 50s/60s song and he's straight on it, often knowing the words as well as the tune.
So Boom Light is a Godsend here.
