I think you are failing to take account of the lack of intelligence which runs through their fans.

They are utd fans because of the hype and historical success levels, which is enough to convince them that they are expected and entitled to be successful despite the numerous flaws within the whole club structure.

Without a very historical and successful PR department, they would be truly fucked because their income levels would not exist, based upon their level of achievements .

In most normal circumstances, supporters are perceptive enough see the obvious flaws in the club set-up, whereas rags just look for excuses to gloss over the reason for their continued failure.

Luckily for them, the stupidity among their ranks, keeps a fresh collection of morons turning up in ridiculous numbers enabling them to slavishly chug along despite disappointment after disappointment.
Yes, I would agree with that.

The rags will have a global audience because of their historical success, as you rightly mention.

When a club is repeatedly branded as one of the biggest in the world it will always attract followers.

Like you, I have often been left scratching my head wondering how they can attract so many people at the swamp. Especially, when you consider the dross they've been serving up over the past decade.

Then it dawned on me.... thousands of tourists visit Buckingham Palace every week, yet they never get to see the queen (king).

Thousands of tourists visit Loch Ness in Scotland and yet they never get to see the Loch Ness Monster.

The swamp is essentially a museum for tourists to visit, and tick off yet, another site seeing tour on their bucket list.

It must be the most damning of all the criticism - when even Wayne Rooney gives you a vote of no confidence as a manager

It is incredible how little self awareness football players have isnt it, if i was captain birdseye or ratboy i wouldnt have the gall to speak on any other manager, in fact i wouldnt even use the manager in my vocabulary after the appalling stints those two have put in.

Dallas cowboys never win but have biggest following

See this is where i disagree, I keep on hearing that rag fans blame the owners but what exactly more do they want from the owners, the rags finished 14th last year, got no european football and were still allowed to spend 200m , how many other owners would have done that, year on year they spend money on players and get grief for it, i dont understand the rags beef with them or what more they want.
They have taken out billions which could have been spent on the club itself. In addition it’s not just investing in transfers it’s getting the infrastructure correct which allows that money to be properly invested. Look how our own club operates. It’s worlds apart.

With very few exceptions the influence of the Manager over results is widely overestimated.

Wouldn’t put any blame on the owners, nothing to do with performances on the pitch……
Everything to do with them.

It’s their job to put a structure in place which ultimately means they have the best chance of winning on the pitch. Look at the quality of professionals our owner put in charge and the plan for the club moving forward with clear targets.

United’s owners just see them as a cash cow….and they are right, they are. They also put Ed Woodward (a marketing guy) in charge of transfers.

Was trying to convince a red, decent bloke by all accounts, that it goes far deeper than folk realise. There is no way that the 7 or 8 managers and all the players they've had in last 12 or so years since fergie have all been naturally shite, it's almost an impossible coincidence. There are strange happenings afoot in the concrete corridors......and long may it jolly well continue

I'm sure we would all love to see that - however, my fear would be that a relegation does give a chance for a major reset - as it did in 1974. Those on big contracts will not want to stay, and a half decent manager will get the chance to start again, they will get that feel good bounce that comes when you start to win games again - even at a lower level, which may carry them on into PL. At the moment it is the treasure just out of reach that is so crippling.
At some point this bag of shite under whatever circumstance must improve, so in the meantime let's see them relegated.

No. Burnley, wolves, west ham are all currently below them and are worse. Then probably Sunderland, leeds, Brentford too and possibly even forest will all be expected to be below United.

United will be around the upper lower half of the table like last year but miles away from any genuine danger of relegation.
What is it that makes you so sure there are going to be three teams below them come the end of the season.
The evidence is they've been on the decline year on year, finishing 15th last season with zero signs of a turn around.
What I'm saying is, I wouldn't be as sure as you are.

If they do go down this season, it will be interesting on what relegation contract clauses they have in place for the majority of their players.
Maybe, after 50 years of complacency they havent got them (I seem to remember Blackburn or Leeds forgetting to have them?).
They could be stuck paying Pl wages, until they off-load (of which I’m sure a majority of the players will grab at the 1st opportunity, being the overpaid, disinterested mercenary lot that they are).
Maybe the signings this year, had some reality added to their contracts, about relegation release clauses or (from the clubs point of view) large wage reductions.

If they do go down, I can see them coming straight back…hovering lower table for a few years and then hopefully plunging down again, and then again.
Can you imagine how giddy the clickbait merchants would be & how it would be a bigger achievement that all that Pep has done

Sounds like he is inciting violence at worst and breach of the peace at best. As a former police officer you would expect a more cautious approach to the matter!!
Be easier for him if he went back to supporting forest
He’s rinsed the scum fanbase
Nothing left for him to do.
