Which City game has annoyed you the most?

The obvious ones have already been mentioned (the 2021 CL final, the Palace/Wigan/Rags Cup finals, the 2-3 in the Centurions season, Luton in '83, the Spurs CL game, the no show at Madrid under Pellegrini, etc etc). One I'll pull out of the hat. A home q/f in the cup against West Ham sometime in the mid 00s. I actually thought we had a slim chance to win the cup that year (I know, I know!), but we bent over and lubed up that evening. 2-0, IIRC (Ashton with both goals?). I was raging after that game.

I remember leaving the Etihad that day being very pissed off for this reason. Could have easily been 10 but Pep took us down a couple of gears.
And after we played the last 15 like a training match, allowing them to score a couple, Ten Hag had the front to say 'we made a couple of changes at half-time and scored three goals' . Shameless.

2021 Champions League final

Not only would it have been our first CL win, with Agüero getting a winners’ medal… but it would have also been a treble as we’d won the PL and EFL Cup.

We finished 19 points ahead of Chelsea in the league and I didn’t even rate their team at all. They were a fairly average football team.

The team selection, pretty much every player completely bottled it, we created next to nothing in 90 minutes, Agüero didn’t get proper minutes when we needed a goal… I fell out with City for a while after that, only actually felt better about it when we came back against Villa on the final day of the following season.
Not read the thread so maybe there are similar posts, but I’d blocked that game out of my mind. It’s the only time I’ve wanted to kick fuck out of Pep. Had a big family bash that day. BBQ, loads of us at mine in the build up. Me and my mate looked at each other when the team sheet came through and the joy just emptied from us both. Full time everyone fucked off and I sat out with a whiskey and just stared. Horrible.

All of the above - but also RM vs City in the Chimps League SF (2015-16) - we'd drawn 0-0 at the Etihad and away goals still counted double - and Pellegrini only went for it in the last few minutes after Bale had put RM ahead - he should have gone all out to score, even if it meant RM had more opportunity to score - we'd have played AM in the final - I know this is a lot of 'ifs' - but with 2019 and 2021 we could have been on three or four Chimps League trophies by now - ahead of the Rags and bathing up with the Dippers!
I know mate, I know and post this with a big sigh of resigned 'what if onlys'...

Sooo frustrating.

So i was watching some highlights last night of us beating the rags and i realised the 6-3 at home really annoyed me as we took our foot of the gas and could easily gone for 10 in that game which i realise is first world problems but it got me thinking what game has annoyed you the most and for what reason, could be a win, loss or a draw.

The other thing that really annoyed me about the 2021 CL final, and bear with me, because it's totally irrational ( and I am a female!!)..

Anyway, I've always since, being young had bits of premonitions about loads of things and often it has extended to our beloved Blues.

Istanbul figures in this tale. I have a friend ( we share the same birthday), and much as we gel she's a Dipper so we try not to go near footy discussion for the sake of our 25 year+ friendship. In early 2005 she said to me that she knew the Dips ( obviously she called them by their official name) were going to win the CL final that year - bearing I'm mind they weren't particularly spectacular in those days. Anyway she was just recently unexpected widowed so thought wtf I'm going to Istanbul, she went and the rest is their 'istree la.

So time moves on to 2021 and the CL final scheduled for Istanbul. All going well with us and I thought this is the year, because like my friend I KNEW we would lift the trophy in Istanbul. So when the final got moved to Porto because of covid or whatever it was I knew before the game and even that irrational team selection that our name wasn't on the trophy that year....

So come 2022 I looked where the CL final was to be held the following spring. I then KNEW we would win it that time.I wasn't even daunted by the grotty ties we had to overcome v Bayern and the MardArses, I KNEW.

I also had the feels in December 20 when we drew 1-1 with WBA that we would win the PL. We had an indifferent start to the season and the Dips and Rags were doing okay at that point and Sky/ Bt sport were all but crowning either one of them as PL winners, we weren't even mentioned. I text my other footy friend ( she's a Blue), that same night that the PL was ours. Shes used to my premonitions so wasn't surprised to receive such a text, she's still got it!

I haven't had any strong feelings for this season as yet. Tbc!!

I kid you not, and I've had a lot of serious family illness before and after that day and I'm so fortunate that I've never suffered with my mental health, but summer 2021 for about 4 weeks after that final I was numb with disbelief and disappointment.

Summer 1983 post Luton was the first time in my early 20s life ( at the time) that I had ever experienced what I now recognise as grief. 2021 whilst not as intense was similar, with what was probably minor depression too. Only the signing of Jack that summer cheered me up footywise.

Strange how a team in Blue can affect us.

The pre-match build up leading to final really pi$$ed me off.

There were birthday parties held for players (not really a problem with that) players and staff crowing on about the 6 star facilities (holiday camp), steam yoga sessions (holiday camp 2), even the backroom staff held a mahoosive barbeque the night before the game (Do it after the final).

Meanwhile, Tommy Toucans was seen giving comical impressions of Pep from a balcony and plotting our downfall with his staff on a chess board etc.
It's the only Champions League Final I've ever seen where so many of the questions in the press conferences before the game were about the referee's terrible decisions against Pep's teams in the past, even going as far back to his days at Barcelona.
Lahoz was the referee in that incredibly bent CL fixture against Liverpool a year or two before but he had also screwed Pep over when he was at Bayern too and multiple times in Spain wirh Barcelona.
That's why this isn't a game that bothers me as I knew we weren't winning it as soon as the ref was announced.
I still think the team Pep put out was in response to the referee selection, it was a team who's main strength should have been keeping hold of the ball rather than winning it back, I think Pep and the players knew that any kind of tackle would result in a freekick to Chelsea and probably a card for us so we played Gundogan instead of Fernandinho (who had just come back from injury so probably wouldn't have lasted 90 minutes) and Rodri (who was far from the player he became at that time, check out the comments about him on here from that season, Plodri, etc, etc).
Even afterwards I think it was Mason Mount who said something about how they knew they could be more physical than us, this extra physicality resulted in us losing KDB for at most a yellow card (I can't even remember if Rudiger got that now).
