45 | Abdukodir Khusanov - 2025/26

Have a feeling everyone knows Arsenal broke his leg on purpose.. but they're not saying it openly!

Can't blame Khusanov.. but he's clearly being targetted as he's our best defender!

It was awful to watch, but clearly due to his lack of match fitness, having been away for over a month and a half, it showed even in his running. He, who is usually so fast, seemed slower than Rico Lewis.

But nothing serious, he needs more training sessions and matches to get back to his best.

I’m quicker than Rico !

Terrible terrible but we got away with it. Looked to be carrying an injury still as got done for pace a couple of times.

As much as I love Khusanov's pace & aggression, lets be honest if Nunes had put in a performance at RB like last night he would have been castigated on here.

I do worry about about Khusanov's passing as its not as clean as some people make out. Still young though & great physical attributes to build on.

He was criticized, but his performance needs to be put into context. People aren't stupid; we all know he's been out for over a month. He only joined the squad four days ago, with only three or four training sessions.
I don't understand the comparison with Nunes.

If Khusanov had performed like that while fully fit against Arsenal or Napoli when he played, he would have been rightly torn to shreds by the critics.

We dont have a good right back and that's the truth. Look at the best in the world, Hakimi, and then compare to our lot, miles off of that level

As for Khusanov, people are being kind, his passing is dreadful, he has pace and aggression but his technical ability is way off of it.

I know he's been injured but even when he was playing well his passing still isnt good enough.

I think his passing, generally, is okay now and usually safe, but nothing more exciting than that. I'm not sure how good he is in the air still. He seems to misjudge the ball a bit sometimes, and there are taller centrebacks, so his best option for us could be as a defensive right-back.

I know Hakimi is widely thought if as the best, but I saw one match early last season where I thought he was very poor, I guess it happens to everyone. I don't watch enough of him to say whether it's just his great matches that get remembered, or if his bad games are rare.

It might be that familiarity is important to him. His passing has been okay when he’s played this season, whereas it wasn’t last night.

It was a patchwork team that hadn’t played together before. Maybe Khusanov needs to know what the players around him are going to do.

We managed with Walker as a right back and his passing wasn’t great!

He needs to sit until he is fully healthy. Being outrun by guys woth average speed 5ells me he isnt fully fit yet.

Don't wanna see more than 20 - 25 minutes sub appearances gor the next 2 weeks

I think you're right @Alan Harper's Tash , I put a lot of the issues in the first 20 mins or so down to unfamiliarity across the team, plus lack of match fitness.

I definitely think there's a place for him, but he needs to be more than someone who gets wheeled out just when there's a dangerous left-winger, as he'll just end up never being match sharp.

The comparison to Nunes is because at this moment in time they're both competing for the same RB position. That's not really going to change this season, since Pep isn't going to displace Dias/Stones/Gvardiol or even Ake for Khusanov as a permanent CB unless they're injured.

On paper it was a great game to ease Khusanov back into form from injury. I would rather this than against Arsenal or a Champions League side. However, his display last night highlighted his rawness & we'll need to step off the bandwagon for a bit.

At this moment in time & I never thought I would say this after last season, but I feel more comfortable with Nunes at RB for us than Khusanov. Much like O'Reilly at LB, Nunes seems to have grown into the position, more comfortable with the ball at his feet than Khusanov & can actually match his recovery pace.

Think it's easy to forget this lad is still only 21 and is still learning the game, he's had some great games for us already and there's definitely more to come.
Yes his passing was shite last night but he was attempting some which if they had come off would have been great passes, and like has already been said he got out paced a good few times which would never happen if he was fully fit
