45 | Abdukodir Khusanov - 2025/26

Khusanov is clearly a character and considering his English isn’t great he seems to get on great with the team going off the last 2 Inside City videos.

Be good to get an update on his English skills as it has been 10 months now of living here.

We can wait until summer to get a right back with Khusanov, Nunes and Lewis as our current options. Don't think Khusanov's future should be on the right though. We should have one CB option who has pace because Dias, Ake and Stones certainly don't have it and we need someone to recover in case Gvardiol or one of the fullbacks has a brain fart.

Always knew he would be a monster at RB, excellent 1on1 defender and physically elite.

I'm a bit concerned as to why he hasn't returned back to training though?
If he didn't break a metatarsal a stamp on the foot shouldn't keep him out this long.

We really need him against Villa away, but I don't think he will be there, although he is not fully recovered, unfortunately. Nunes is not convincing enough defensively, especially against such a pacy opponent

Grounds like Villa park, Anfield Etc is where you need level headed defenders who are unfazed by the atmosphere, something Nunes is not.

But the board decided against signing a genuine RB this summer, so if he's exposed in the big games and costs us its on them, they (the board) have made so many puzzling decisions in the last transfers windows that I'm genuinely not bothered.

Just for clarity, Matheus Nunes registered the 2nd highest speed of ANY player in the PL last season. The idea that Nunes is vulnerable to pace is simply gash, as is the idea that Khusanov has proven himself to be a level-headed defender.

Khus is a tremendous prospect. He is aggressive, pro-active, and physically blessed. He plays on the front-foot and takes no messing. He is loved for those reasons, and I am someone who thinks he is a fabulous prospect. IMO, he is a centre-back, and potentially a world-class one, but it is early days, and he doesn't need to be the stick to beat other players with.
