Bournemouth (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

He got it wrong today though.Thought they could go toe to toe with us with a high back line and got punished by fast moving counters.
Great team performance just missing some set piece success now

Not sure he got it wrong, we were just very good and have better players.

Really impressed by how they sold 3 of their starting defenders in the summer, replaced them for less, and are now better for it. Impressed by their approach today also - if we hadn't been quite so good we'd easily have lost that.

I was hoping it would be that kind of team. Congrats to B&BAfc for coming and playing an attacking game. Nothing suits us better. It was a good solid team performance from front to back. The only poor performance on the pitch was from that shitehawk in the yellow.
OMG was he corrupt...

Was great to see Haaland just attack the space knowing with Cherki in the side he would play the pass. And good for someone other than him to get a goal too!

I like it that we're mixing it up more as well - when we play that ball for Haaland to chase, it's game over.
We can only play that though, if the opposition are high, most sit along the edge of the area, so we need a different plan than we've had. Iraola played to our strengths today, and we took them.

We might be able to catch the dippers next week, as they might do similar.

Not trying to be critical, just realistic.

Fuck me. We won 3-1. I used to love reading in the Pink of any and all victories. You cunts not celebrating- fuck off and then fuck off a bit more.
No one’s not celebrating, or at least I’m not not celebrating. But I think too many people think Bournemouth played well. I think they defended like shit. Still, in tight spaces save for the opening part of the 2H, we were also excellent, and effectively every one of the starters contributed a good performance, so I’d say we gelled in probably the best way we have all year against a solid side who made tactical and execution errors.

And that’s gotta put Slot in a bit of a quandary since they aren’t built to sit back.

Nowhere near good enough
He's a spurs level player. I said so in the summer when most on here were bleating about not wanting him to go. I can see us getting half the money next summer.

On a more positive note. Really happy Cherki has got in the team and he's got to be given a run of games now. Also Really pleased with Nico G. If Rodri gets back to full fitness I'd play them both. We need his consistency.

Most goals scored.
Joint 3rd lowest conceded.

It’s not been pretty at times. But the stats are good.
I don’t think we’ll win the league, but it’s hopefully the start of a team which in a season or 2 can challenge.

Entertaining game that against an opponent who will give most teams trouble. Haaland razor sharp, Gonzalez again really good and O'Reilly also excellent. Good first half from Cherki but he tired in the 2nd and gve it away a bit too often then so his subbing was timed right, but again he showed huge potential - his quick first time pass for the 2nd goal was something Erling has been craving.

Im not his biggest fan but Nunes was notably excellent today. And there was also still time for Savinho to serve up another 15 minute cameo carnival of crap - the cheek of him waving his arms at crowd as well. Hes currently fucking useless and not worthy of a shirt or any mins on the pitch. Mulder and Scully will look into how he crowbarred a 6 year contract from us.

Great match should’ve been 4-1/5-1 to City at very least… Taylor as always being the shyster of a ref…
Awful after match… taxi driver hit two City fans, one in his 70s with heart condition and his son… helped the 70 year old bloke up… the taxi driver sped off… awful…was on road between ashburys and Mary D’s

First half was a great watch both teams trying to play football. Think they have some decent young players. As Pep said in his radio presser our quality in the middle of the park and Erl decided the game. Watching Gonzalez today just makes me question why he didn’t get picked last year. The lads getting better by the game. Cherki has an impudence and makes the game look easy. Nunes is the most improved player in the league I’m staggered by how he managed Semenya today.

No easy games in this league and that was a job well done against a decent side.
Not bothered what other teams are up to as this squad if we keep decently fit can be there at the end.

Bournmouth are a good team and played like Spurs did against us at the start with a 5 man high press - but CIty worked out a way of passing out from the back which kind of put the kybosh on their press.
Sadly Anthony Taylor then showed his true colours with a shocking refereeing performance. He normally allows all in Wrestling - and to be fair(ish) he alows us to do the same - but not today. We did a foul it was a yellow, we won the ball fairly and it was a foul. They did the same and nowt. Then to cap it all, they twice stick their arms out fror crosses and handle but Red Taylor waves it away. Just shocking.
OK, one was knee to hand but really, you can leave your hands hanging around in mid air - not even close to his body.
Cherki, Nico, Foden and Haaland were excellent. Cherki is an outstanding prospect - but Nico cutting inside to parter Nico was outstanding.
Haaland is the best striker I have ever seen. We need to counter attack quickly to give him the best opportunities. 2 well taken goals and a great save denied him a hat trick.
