Gave the canal side cafe a try lunchtime. At £9.30 for one pint, will be my only visit!
They will go bust with that price. That can't be sustained on a normal working day in any city in the world.View attachment 174157

I walked along Great Ancoats St on Wednesday on my way to City. It used to be a dead commuter road through derelict buildings and old warehouses. Now it's lined with restaurants. In April 2026, construction should start on the Digital Campus on the old central retail park. This site is expected to create 4,900 direct construction jobs over a four-year building period and eventually it will provide jobs for 7,000 people. I wonder what it will look like in 5 years time? Around it, are a number of housing developments in the planning stage.
In 2003, when City moved to the Etihad, there were about 1,000 people living there. Now there are 100,000 people in the city centre. By 2035 it has been estimated that that figure will grow to 235,000 (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cn41y9gmw22o).
