Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

I know that pre covid there was re assessment of stadium expansion. I think Khaldoon also referred to it in one of the chairman end of season videos.

Any rumours or updates on if this is back up or gathering pace? Or is shelved for now? He even referred to blue wall single tier example similar to Dortmund.

I know the excitement at the moment is for CO-OP and the venue itself and the potential revenue generated for city from it. But would love some news on stadium development as I see Liverpool are expanding to 61,000 and work has already begun.

i would imagine, we would have completed our reassessment aswell as its been 2 years now since that first covid wave when the chairman video i think was done end of season.
Soriano talked about it in his Icelandic interview, nothing specific though. My guess it starts when the arena is finished, end of 23 / beginning of 24. Don’t remember the club talking about a single tier, again my guess would be a large second tier with a safe standing.bottom tier.

Delaney at it again. Seriously, this guy must spend his sleepless nights wondering how he can defame Manchester City. Apparently a report by the University of Sheffield claims we are in cahoots with Manchester City council regarding both sports washing and now city washing, as well as not paying our taxes in full.

City, if your are listening, this deserves an official response in my opinion.

He of course spends most of the article bashing us and accusing us of misdeeds, yet right at the bottom of the article is the most telling information...

A Manchester City Council spokesperson said: “We reject any suggestion that the sale of the sites involved in the Manchester Life joint venture was not a good deal for the council and the city.

Land was valued by independent experts, using the nationally accepted ‘red book’ valuation benchmark, and we got the best overall deal we could for each site at a time when there was very little market interest in the area. The value of that deal includes not just the initial receipt for the land but also site-specific overage arrangements, and profit sharing payments. These were always envisaged as longer-term arrangements – the council is due to receive several million pounds in this financial year through the first such payments.”

The council added the Manchester Life developments had “acted as a catalyst, creating confidence and attracting further investment into the area” and had paved the way for new homes and business, generating “significantly more for the city in extra council tax and business rates income”.

Delaney is a moron. The regeneration of North and East Manchester has generated huge wealth for Manchester City council especially from Ancoats and the top end of the Northern Quarter. The population has increased more than ten fold in this area in the last decade and there have been hundreds (perhaps thousands) of business start-ups. This will provide huge revenues in council tax and business rates. The new arena will bring around one millions visitors a year to Manchester. None of this would have happened without the deal with ADUG. It is a long term plan and the ongoing commercial revenues from ADUG have only just started.
There is still a shortage of social housing in the city, as there is everywhere in the UK, but you can't pin this on Sheikh Mansour. If it wasn't for overseas investment Manchester would have gone bust years ago.

So fucking what if land was sold cheaply. The area has been TOTALLY regenerated and isnt recognisable to the area that we first arrived in all those years ago, and continues to change and develop.

Why would anyone have a problem full stop with any of it
Thank Christ the land value wasn’t based on the dipperpool methodology where it costs £50m to drill a few trial holes!

All part of the attraction of buying city wasnt it?
Without these development opportunities , no interest in the city buy out ?

Do we know who wrote the report, other than someone at Sheffield Uni?

Excellent post btw

The c*nt Deloony will be at the Etihad this season courtesy of City, with a free seat, food and drink, whilst still slagging Sheikh Mnsour/ADUG, City, and now MCC off via a rehashed report and article.

I swear, if I owned City I would thrown the c*nt out of the Etihad myself, and tell the bitter c*nt never to step foot inside the Etihad again. (but as usual City will allow this c*nt back into the Etihad next season)
