England v Serbia - Thu 13th Nov '25, 19:45 | Word Cup Qualifier

Both Phil and Eze were superb when they came on second half.

Nico had a good debut.

Not sure why the away end was virtually empty - must have been no more than 35 in it.
Serbian FA didn’t trust their fans to behave and couldn’t afford any more fines, so didn’t take any tickets apparently

The Bellingham hate on here has become an obsession.
Thing is us city fans know what a top footballer is Bellingham is a good football I praise him when he does something good like when he was deep picking ball up moving slightly up pitch and for once pass the ball at the right time to Foden who 97/100 passes the ball at the right time perfectly!

That was Bellingham only good thing in that 20 odd minutes!

Actually, it probably showed where Bellingham can enhance our game. Coming from a deeper role to support the more technical players in the final third.

Look at what he did in a more forward role, absolutely nothing and clogged the space, but in a deeper role it allows for better transition.

Spot on! Bellingham should play the rice role but he is second in line for that place so he is a bench player! Foden probably a bench player if Tuchel wants him to play the Kane role!

Bellingham is clearly a very good player. So much is obvious, as he's playing for one of the best clubs, he had offers from other top clubs, including City and Liverpool, and he's one of the key players for his country.

But analyse his performance last night. On one occasion he was seen on camera complaining "f*** me!" after a not so good pass towards him, which he failed to control. It's this attitude that he thinks he's levels above everyone else that rankles. You don't get that from any other England player, regardless of their ability.

He had a few link ups with Foden, which was pleasing given that the narrative was that they don't get on and Bellingham never passes to Foden. Also the building narrative that Foden and Bellingham can't play together, but only Bellingham is undroppable. (This narrative was being postulated by Stuart Pearce on TalkSport in the build up. Pearce struggled to say a good word about any City player, and had Foden behind Rashford, Eze, even Bowen, in the pecking order for a place at the World Cup).

On one occasion, Matterface and Dixon both praised Bellingham for a brilliant cross that went straight to the Serbian keeper, on the basis that it was perfect for Kane, if he had still been on the pitch at the time. Fair enough, but Bellingham knew Kane wasn't there, and therefore it was a very poor cross, because it was nowhere near an England player. Notice all the other England players didn't all complain "f*** me!" after this poor cross.

This was surprising from the commentators as they had been very fair to all players before this, with no noticeable agenda against City players, unlike our former player and manager.

So whilst acknowledging Bellingham is a very good player, there are clearly question marks about his attitude. It's been mentioned that Tuchel is trying to foster a welcoming atmosphere amongst his team, where newcomers like Nico can feel at home. You can see these characteristics in certain players, and I'll name Rice, Stones, Henderson, even Rashford as experienced players who show good attitude. But not Bellingham, and not his mate TAA, who along with his Liverpool mate Gomez, picked a fight with Sterling all those years ago.

Tuchel somehow needs to let Bellingham know that he isn't the undroppable superstar like Messi and Ronaldo, and he must comply with team ethos he is trying to promote.

It is not only Bellingham, something happened in the last 10-15 years where England has been almost exclusively looked at from the club's point of view. Some would even go further back to so called 'golden generation" where animosity among players spread to supporters.
I think it is the same with most of PL clubs, the so called top six definitely, but I would go even further down, where "he is not playing for my club, he is an asshole".
Look at Bernardo, he is a proper little bastard when on the pitch and we would hate his guts if he plays against us, but he is "our" bastard and we love him even more because of it.

Feel like it’s a cop out from Tuchel to pigeon hole Phil into a false 9 position, which can only exist as a role off the bench due to Kane, it’s his way of not starting him.

Same goes for Bellingham, calling him a 10 because he knows he isn’t as good as Rice, Anderson and co deeper.

Foden should be the 10, and if he keeps being the best player off the bench Tuchel might not have a choice but to play him there.

He is quite literally the only player capable of playing in the pockets of space, keeping the game ticking and creating chances. Bellingham gets on the end of them, ghosts all other phases of play and Rogers is merely a counter attacking player. Nothing special when he’s playing against teams that sit in, can’t thread a ball, can’t operate like Phil in the pockets of space.

Shame for Foden, England, as he’s far and away the most talented player in the squad. Would start for Spain, would start for Argentina and France. Any other nation.

Maybe, just maybe Tuchel will be the England manager to get the best out of Phil. There is some serious talent in that England attack and having Phil come on as a false 9 / 10 in the world cup for the last 30 minutes when defenses are tired and space opens up could be a great shout. So many times managers shoehorn players in like Foden with no thought on how to get the best out of them, well at least Tuchel knows what he wants to do with Foden and thats a start.

Bellingham stands alone in his cuntishness though, it's his overall cuntishness that people can't stand. It doesn't help that his Dad appears to be a **** either.

Just because he plays football doesn't mean that this shouldn't be overlooked and he isn't the first or last English player to be called out for it despite all the moaning's from the people with the bedspreads and novelty lubes who'd stand by their man whatever the situation.

Its only a cop out if it doesn't work. If Tuchel keeps getting results and takes England to a world cup semi / final then no one can complain. Foden thrives when he can receive the ball on the turn and attack and for 20/30 minutes last night he was class. Would that be the same if he'd started, who knows but it clearly worked from Tuchel last night so i don't think he can be ripped for it just yet.

England can't do much more than win every game, it's not their fault there aren't any decent sides to play in their group

What was the weird brainwashing commentary about, talking about the superb technique of Saka's goal guided in with his instep as the replay clearly showed it looping in off his shin/ankle. Nothing against Saka think he's a top player but why the blatant lying?

I don't think you can question Tuchel considering Phil came on and got an assist and probably should have scored and had another assist for Eze. He was more effective in his cameo last night than he has been in probably 20 games for Southgate.

Tuchel is providing clarity but he's not fixed in his position. He said Phil's great in the 10 role, can play false 9 and compete with Kane but also accepted Pep's used him as an 8 this season too so he's potentially competing for that spot. The main thing is he's playing with a smile and given freedom which is what we saw last night.

Rogers was good in the previous games and it was right to keep him in the side to keep reinforcing to the squad that playing well for England gives you credit and having a big name or impressing for your club over a month or two doesn't mean you're straight back in.
