Until the defence is sorted, the big picture won't change. Posters on here look at some of the clean sheets and seem to forget what they witnessed during the actual game. Halftime at Newcastle - 0-0 but Woltemade should have bagged a couple by then, if not a hat-trick.
Or the last 15 minutes today - the corner that just floated across the 6-yard line without anybody challenging for it, the (albeit very good) cross from the right that had everybody panicking, there was another unchallenged header from a similar spot to Leverkusen's 2nd goal etc... Notice I haven't mentioned the two glaring errors leading to their goals.
Nothing has changed in the past year, other than NOR making a really good stab at LB. Said it before, but the fact that we seriously bought Ait-Nouri as a full-back goes to show that nobody who matters took the defensive shambles of last year at all seriously.
I can't remember any team - maybe Brazil 1970 - who won anything while being so porous at the back.
(The lack of earlier subs today is another matter...)
There must be a plan - I suppose?
