Well we're only a couple of points behind them now, so I should think they're already feeling a bit of pressure .... but yes, it will only intensify if we can keep it up.
 
Sorry if already mentioned somewhere on here but anyone know where Johnny Stones was today?

The big difference between today and the last couple of games was the 3rd goal coming when it did.

They did, but I think there's a bit of a mentality that every time anybody attacks against us they're going to score so we (as fans) panicking a little and making it appear worse than it really was, but overall they were never really in it. Football's always been the same, create more chances than the opposition and 9 times out of 10 you'll win the match.

I was outside the ground trying to get an internet connection for the Villa v Arsenal game I heard that roar and knew Villa must have scored

I don't think it makes any difference. Depends who they play inbetween, who we play inbetween, who plays and who doesn't, injuries and so on, you can play the same team a week later and get a completely different result.

I remember years ago when we beat Huddersfield 10-1 then we played them in the cup and drew 0-0 about three times (replays in those days until somebody won), before eventually going through.
 
After the Arsenal loss three points were the most important thing today and we got them. We are still a team who are trying to gel but we deserve a lot of credit to get within two points of the 'runaway title winners' in spite of that.
Sunderland worked hard but were very limited and i think maybe a little tired after a couple of tough games. Three very good goals scored by us, especially the third, what a piece of skill by Cherki
The crowd was a little flat today with a fair few gaps but it's that time of the year being very close to Christmas.

I agree completely

That's.why I used the phrase "reasonably comfortable" as I remember one defeat in particular (funnily enough at Sunderland) in 2011-12 where I still wonder how the fuck we lost.

I was also at Elland Road in 00-01 when the reverse happened
Usually the best team wins but not every time.

That's a quarter of the team, can make a huge difference depending on who the players are. Look at the difference it makes to us when we're missing just one key player in midfield.

Honestly, if we're worrying about Sunderland we have problems. Can't we ever just enjoy a good win? We're playing Real Madrid in 4 days time.
 
Back in the hotel, after watching the game and a few drinks. Cherki, what a player, outrageous assist. Going to be a huge player for us. How dominant is NOR, wherever he plays huge physical presence. Now a mainstay of the 11. The shark team are starting to emerge!

A couple of seasons ago, we played Brentford twice in the space of 15 days, and while we won there at a relative canter, it was a much cagier and dour affair in Manchester. That’s rather my point, when we used to get repeat replays in the FACup, players quickly become accustomed to and remembered how their opponent would play. I just prefer to have longer between League meetings.

Yes it was slightly tongue in cheek. But Ali joined us at the back end of his career. Ryan is young and inexperienced in the PL. If he has the same impact on the team as Ali did, he'll do for me. And don't call me Shirley
