He played well, but that mistake at that point was a howler. I don’t think he was helped by Foden passing to him - should have gone straight to Donnarumma- nor by the fact that Haaland rather ambled up to his position, meaning the long ball wasn’t an option.Surprised there are no comments in this thread, given an all-round excellent performance and an absolute worldy for the opener
Yes he did give the ball away terribly for that 1-on-1 chance, but his actual defending (positioning, anticipation, aggression, organization) was exemplary today
Was this meant for the Nunes thread? ;-)Played very well apart from that brain fart

Forgive me Father Ruben…I rarely criticise players, but theres a whiff of the "Scotty Parker"s about Ruben....which is strange, as in the past he has been incredible...maybe its just the lack of continuity around him
Rodri, Erl and Don a runna are captains for me as well.Thought he was immense last night. We had periods where they really went for it.
Also a proper leader.
He’s had some criticism the last year, some warranted- like most of the team, but most not.
If Bernie goes in the summer I can’t see anyone else being captain.
