Real Madrid (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

We went to Madrid and bossed the game. They might have a few injuries and not be in the best form but they are always dangerous in the CL, yet we were the better team all game.
We are still a work in progress and need to somehow cut out the quick breaks against us and vulnerability to diagonals, but it’s starting to look more solid. Cherki is key due to his tempo setting.
Wanted to praise Bernie as well, he might not be offering too much creativity at the moment but he never ever stops running and pressing and without that energy we could struggle more.
Final comment match day thread is populated by entitled spoilt now nowts. So many people whinging - we were away from home at Madrid for Christ’s sake - have some perspective

Alan Ball and Stuart Pearce had higher grade coaching qualifications than almost every "random sat on a sofa". Does that mean we have to stop criticising the crap we had to watch while they coached us?
If Stuart Pearce had said Pep set us up wrong after a 2 1 away win at Real Madrid I'd take the piss out of him too. I'm not sure what your point is?

They were sent out by Alonso to kick us every single time. Asencio, Valverde, that Utd reject Carrares and particularly Rudiger kept kicking and fouling everyone. Result of such negative tactics made sure that this game was not going to be won by finesse or beautiful passing play. So satisfying to see Rudiger punished this time for his thuggery in the penalty box, although he was spared the red card by the kindness/incompetence of the ref. He should be sent off in every single game due to the way he 'defends'. Will not forgive him ever for breaking KDB's jaw (he wasn't sent off for that). This guy is going to get some suitable karma soon the way he plays.

Anyways, proud of this young side that they countered all that and came back from a goal down to win at a very hostile stadium. The entire defence + Nico G was superb throughout. Rayan and Jeremy ran their full backs ragged and Erling took his penalty very well.

Special mention to Matheus. He is just phenomenal. Nobody can say now that this guy is a failed midfielder turned RB who was a laughing stock for much of the last season. RM away was always the sort of game where we used to truly judge our RBs. He crushed this test fantastically. So heartwarming, his story!!

Why did Foden find it so hard yesterday? He barely got involved.
I'm sure I read somewhere that Pep said Foden had been feeling ill during the game vs Sunderland, so maybe it was the after effects of that? But yes a strangely below par performance from him yesterday. A good nights kip, a quiet days fishing and he'll be right as rain for the weekend.
