These are the performances that win leagues. It's not pretty, there is no flowing football creating great goals, there is no destroying teams - but there is hard work, there is resilience, there is recovery from mistakes - not dwelling on them, there are moments where we might give away a goal, there is having to deal with fouls not given and good tackles called as fouls, there is dealing with balls lumped into the box where anything could happen - and finding three moments of class that makes it look as if we had a nice comfortable afternoon.
I've voted for Gvardiol as Man of the March because it was a day for defending, but all the back five played their part. Nico G had to deal with some overload and dodgy refereering and came through it all, Foden and Silva had to grind it out in the middle, they didn't win every challenge or complete every pass, but they made the ones that counted - all of which gave Cherki and Halland the chance to shine by doing what they do (with some defending whenever they needed to help out). Great cameo by Silvio - did what we needed to break out and win the penalty - although I never thought he was going to score.
good stuff all round - I presume most will get a break on Wednesday and be ready to deal with West Ham and perhaps just sneak top for a couple of hours.
