Depends on your definition of fun I suppose.
I met many a B list celebrity due to where my life was in the late 90s and early to mid 2000s and sex pest would be more than an apt description for them. Massive coke heads would be more fitting but one often led to another.

I think with Walliams is that he doesn’t know when to end the joke. He’s happy to embarrass an audience member, and if they’re 16-18 years old that’s a pretty vulnerable section of the population for an “adult oriented” show. How he’s managed to forge a career on mainstream TV is the question, his act is more stag do type material. So really this cancelling of his children’s books publishing contract is just correcting the initial mistake with regard to a man who once stated on TV he would like to suck 17 yo Harry Styles’ cock.

Most children’s authors probably don’t express such thoughts.
 
Never liked him, as many have said comes across as a bit creepy, and as funny as toothache to boot. However we live in an age where all it needs is someone to make an accusation of sexism, racism or some other ism and you're well and truly fucked without due process. Even if there is a full investigation and he's exonerated, he's still fucked.

Did Carry On, Benny Hill, The Comedians etc. know when to end the joke. Context, time, and changing tastes are important. Why should being in one form or entertainment, preclude you from another. Clearly kids love his books and parents too.
As I've said - if he's done something illegal - then fair enough - its all this moral high grounding and pre judgement that I find distasteful.

Yes, they did. About 1980 when most people thought it was time.

There are plenty of forms of entertainment that don’t sit easily with another. With Walliams it’s not the fact his acts are double entendre, it’s that they’re very physical, and that changes the situation entirely with someone not part of the cast. That’s not been acceptable for as long as I can remember, I don’t recall any other performer getting away with this sort of act. To then enhance his appeal to children by curating a career on ITV is beginning to look a bit sick to me.
