I take it you have never heard of the Common Agricultural Policy. What's the EU got to do with domestic tax policy?
It is pretty basic stuff if you are talking about the EU and farmers, but you don't even qualify a dilettante.

So, farmers keep telling us that they spend huge amounts on capital expenditure like tractors , combine harvesters etc and make little or no profit. Other businesses with a similar economy are valued on a multiple of their profit, which would be very low - unlikely to trouble IHT. They can also ensure that they transfer the ownership to their kids early enough to avoid the tax.
Perhaps if the farmers listen to their accountant more than Clarkson, they might not be so worried and even suicidal…
Let's be honest mate, nobody has killed themselves because inheritance tax laws were changed. What has happened is some poor people have killed themselves, as they always have, and some of those people will happen to be farmers that the right wing press can use to go "See? Look what this new law has done." They and their families deserve compassion, but of course their memory will be hijacked to make a political argument.I think topping yourself to avoid tax is cold and heartless and even Scrooge never went that far.
You make it sound like they have no choice, but it’s pathetic, we can all avoid tax by topping ourselves but we are not all so rich or such fucking tightwads who are so desperate to avoid paying tax.
If they just paid their taxes like everyone else they wouldn’t be in the position. They obviously love saving tax more than living their lives, if any of this nonsense is true.
If everyone took the same approach then there would be no one left to pay tax to subsidise farmers and then they would go out of business.
I thought this discussion was about British farmers, What's your point?I take it you have never heard of the Common Agricultural Policy.

No. Too concerned about the number of people accidentally falling off the edge of the world, thinking it was a globe. It is quite a revelation when young fit athletic sportsmen drop dead.,....all of a sudden.
Or have you not noticed this this trend?
Because house prices have rocketed over the years giving owners huge tax free profits
And, of course, none of them will actually pay any IHT.Let's be honest mate, nobody has killed themselves because inheritance tax laws were changed. They did exactly the same thing when tax was added to private schools and some schools that were blatantly already going to close after years of mismanagement happened to close around that time.
Have our farmers been forced to feed toxic food to their cattle? The tax issue for farmers is only part of the problem
Danish farmers have had enough of being forced to feed a certain substance to their cows, which have fallen sick
It is toxic to them and will if course be the same to human consumers .You prob haven't heard about this ..
Many farms in this country have been instructed to use Bovare...which needs gloves and masks to be fed to the cows .
The swiss farmers are as we speak ,joining forces with the French to revolt. This is serious .
Not one person on this thread seems to understand the seriousness of what is going on.....by Feb next year ,everybody will
Those of you more interested in the 115 thread will suddenly realize you get been looking the wrong way .
Mainstream news and politics are not where you should be looking for your info
Ask a Danish farmer what's really going on.; ))
It’s quite plainly a load of bollocks, but Mr Tweety seemed to think it was a good reason to let the rich fuckers off.Let's be honest mate, nobody has killed themselves because inheritance tax laws were changed. Why would they dislike sections of society ?Another u-turn on a half baked policy, implemented solely due to Labour’s malicious assault on sections of society it dislikes.
What a disgraceful shambles this government is.
They imo, were right to introduce the tax. What’s disappointing is that they have not left it as it wasAnother u-turn on a half baked policy, implemented solely due to Labour’s malicious assault on sections of society it dislikes.

So did you agree with the policy in the first place and you are disappointed they have changed the policy, and softened the "malicious assault" 4 months before it comes in?Another u-turn on a half baked policy, implemented solely due to Labour’s malicious assault on sections of society it dislikes.
