I've watched a few of their games this season with my brother who's a red. It's funny as I see United now like one of those teams like Everton/West Ham etc who can sometimes finish 6th in a really good season. You feel they could almost kick on if they spent some big money on a top class manager and players. Then I realise they have spent a fortune on players and are stuck in that upper middle table battle. And their manager has a CV that's about as good as the guys at Brentford/Brighton etc.

However, without question they have 2 superb players in Mbuemo and Fernandes and without them they are fucked! :D Those 2 can open up any defence and if they are not available they are going to struggle.

LOVE IT!

How can you be a blue since a certain game? You are either a city fan or not , can't just choose to be one after a particular match. RAG
Don't know if you're joking or not, but let's assume you're not.

It was just around that time that I started following City properly. My mum's a blue, my dad's a red. They both agreed to push neither team on me so I ended up taking in City and United stuff by osmosis until I was about 4-5 years old. The first team I "supported" (if you will) was Stockport County, though, because they were nearest our house and were sort of a stand-in for me until I inevitably picked City or United. County are still my local team and still my second team.

United won the treble the week before the play-off final, but the European Cup final was obviously on past my bedtime at that age. So I got taken to watch the Gillingham game in a pub the following week because it was on mid-afternoon, and I found it all very exciting. Then my cousin and uncle came back from Wembley with a big flag and a scarf that both got hung on my bedroom wall and stayed there until I moved out for uni at the age of 18. I've still got that flag somewhere.

I went to Maine Road for the first time the following season (3-1 win over Norwich, Mark Kennedy scoring twice in a minute, think it was around Christmas 1999) and that was that. I started following our results after that, expressing an interest in City, going to Maine Road as much as we could afford. Then as a present for my 9th birthday I got bought a season ticket at the City of Manchester Stadium. It all goes back to the Gillingham game.

I talk about it all here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/53723237?collection=123028

Fuck Stockport County, i still remember Tony Dinning scoring a penalty at the North Stamd end and mocking Nicky Weavers Wembley celebrations

Your wish as come true both not playing now

I was taken to Maine Road in 1968 as an outing with the cubs and I was Blue ever since
So I disagree with that hypothesis
Me too ... I was a Blue since the family barbecue the day after Law had backheeled United to relegation.

My uncle John claimed till his dying day that everyone leaving OT thought 'Denis has done it'. He was there so he should know ... but Mum didn't let me go to Maine Road till a few years later, because it was 'too rough'.

I was there.
I didn’t think that.
We knew they were down anyway.

They are on an upward trend imo. Don't think they win a title under Amorim but they can finish top 4-6 this season and go deep in the cups again from next season. Think once Amorim has another summer under his belt they could be regular top 4-6 finishers once more, which isn't exactly what they want but it's on the way to their ideal destination.

Since those comments Ratcliffe made about giving Amorim three years no matter how much people might want him sacked, in all competitions they've P11 W5 D4 L2. In that time they've gone away to Liverpool (W), Spurs (D), Palace (W), and Villa (L). Things could be improved but Amorim has definitely stopped the rot and steadied the ship for the time being.

Lammens
De Ligt Maguire Shaw
Diallo [new CM] Fernandes Dalot
Cunha Mbeumo Mount

There is something in that system. Casemiro and Ugarte are nowhere near mobile enough to do the job Amorim wants, which is why they're still a work in progress, and Mount can't really be trusted to stay fit for more than 2-3 months at a time. But they are building a decent squad with decent options from the bench. No threat to us yet, but it's improving.
Why go to that level of thinking about that lot? If you're not embarrassed then you really should be.

In a nutshell, without thinking about them longer than I'd want. They'll improve on the 15th place finish from last season but will still be wank.

I have this kind of interest in every team. Looking up stats and posting about them, especially about the big six teams I guess, is one of my favourite things to do.
