Last Film You Saw

Christy...film about Christy Martin, female boxer from the nineties,a pretty hard hitting film, her husband/ trainer was a **** of a man.
Enjoyed it 8/10

Goodbye June. Kate Winslet Director and Actor with Timothy Spall and Helen Mirren. About a family dynamics when their mum and wife (Mirren) is dying.

It was ok and well acted but a bit gloomy for Christmas !

Tried watching the last (apparently) Mission Impossible film last night. Watched it in the cinema when it came out, and tried it again last night, to see if I'd changed my initial impression had changed. Now; Cruise is brilliant at this type of action film. The look of the film, and the stunts are excellent. They are extremely professionally put together. But, to me, it seems to meander all over the place. The last 2 MI films were disappointing, in contrast to the previous two (rogue nation, and fallout). If they are calling it quits for the franchise, it's probably the right time.

The fact that it "meanders" is correct.

It does so because it changed tact with the intention of the back to back release because of the way the way the first part performed and rewrote how the film played out.

I believe there were political angles it changed from too.

Whether that's accurate or not, I don't know, but that was the story at the time.

He’s in his early sixties and it’s starting to show - not great for an “action man hero”. Definitely reached the end of the road for this type of role.

Sure I read somewhere that the two "Reckoning" films were pretty much in the can at the same time, as you pretty much confirmed. But, for some reason the studio (or Cruise?) decided to sit on the second one for a couple of years. Back to back (say, 3 - 6 months between them) might have been the better option.

I thought the same, his age showed in a couple of fights but without acknowledgement as indiana Jones did.

I commented on the film last week, a poor ending to the series.

Watched “One Battle After Another” which was excellent. Strong cast including Leonardo de Caprio and a brilliant Sean Penn. Follows a lapsed left-wing revolutionary trying to live under the radar with his 16 y-o daughter. Being hunted by an old adversary played by Penn. Lots of plot twists, throw in a white supremacist secret society and you have an engrossing film that never falters. 8.5/10
Watched the first 10 minutes and turned it off after getting sick of seeing Sean Penns cum face. Was shit and cringe

Story reconstruction during the "pandemic", I'm pretty sure.

The cinema market was really slow to recover at the time as well. No film really got over $500k in sales and considering the budget? Made sense to hold off, but the caveat was the loss of interest in the second part.

Lots of things played their part as a collective.
