Last Film You Saw

Just watched Deliver Me From Nowhere, the Springsteen biopic.

Really enjoyed this one about one of my favourite albums. It’s a slow pace, won’t be for everyone and certainly not a biopic in the style of the Queen or Elton ones thank fuck.

This feels more like reality, doesn’t paint him in a crazy glamorous light, just a fairly emotionally weighted film. Really good performances from Jeremy Allen White and Jeremy Strong as always. I’d go with an 8/10 and I’ll be giving Nebraska a heavy listen tomorrow.

I gave up on it. I tend to like some semblance of a story.
Resisted replying about this and then someone made a new thread about new films. Saltburn was the best new film I watched in ages at the time I saw it. Its a great film, and to answer to the OP about that its is a story and from start to end. About lives, bullshit, money and entitlement and how someone can demolish that bollocks. A great story. Read more is my advice

I read 1 book every 7 to 10 days. But thanks for the advice.

Nuremberg, your typical American re-writing of history focused predominantly on their countrymen's involvement. David Maxwell-Fyfe is a bit-part played by Richard E Grant. I guess we should be grateful he is at least in it, and he does get some of the credit he's due (not a total bastardisation like U571). Well acted though and never dull. Russell Crowe hasn't aged well. 7.5/10

Something to do with Herr Göring not be in the best shape at that point of his life, or what was left of it?

I wondered that too, so looked up some of the pics/footage from the trials - certainly quite stocky but not the absolute porker as portrayed by Crowe.

Watched Relay last night on Amazon prime.
Nice tidy little thriller with some unusual moments & it was pretty enjoyable.
Riz Armed & Lily James as the leads.
6.5 out of 10.

It has a Wuthering Heights story-feel to it. And now she has actually gone ahead and made a new WH which is due out in a few weeks.
To be fair, WH is my favourite book and I loved Saltburn too.

Just watched The Founder. Pleasant enough.

Watched Mel Gibson’s latest- Hunting Season. By helping a badly wounded woman, a survivalist and his daughter get involved in conflict with a ruthless group of drug dealers. Solid 7/10. Predictable but watchable.

Also watched Fackham Hall - a comedy about an aristocratic family trying to hang on to their ancestral home. It tries (and largely fails) to follow films like Airplane, Naked Gun (Nielsen not Neeson!) etc, Some funny moments, but material not strong enough for a full length movie. Would’ve been better at (say) 45mins.
I’ll be generous and give 5.5/10. Not great but I’ve seen many worse.

The Phoenician Scheme - those who are team Wes Anderson will try to rank it by its quirkiness percentage, the rest will just hate it!
Definitely better than Asteroid City, but The Grand Budapest Hotel was the peak.

Didn't like the Phoenician Scheme. I thought the story was kind of weak and it wasn't sure what it was trying to do. I did like Asteroid City though so maybe it's me
Just watched the trailer for it. Looks a bit manic/slapstick-y for my taste
