Great chant that, love it! And that’s nearly 3 years old that chant and I’ve never heard it inside the Etihad yet.Very true "you can't stop Erland Haaland " made it to terrace on Saturday

Good postI made up the Mancini/Pellegrini/Guardiola song to The Stone Roses ‘Made Of Stone’ in about 2019 and it still hasn’t caught on across our fanbase yet. Although it does get sung by SSL0 and also at away games, but when I join in with SSL0 when they get it going from my seat, barely anyone around me joins in because I just don’t think they know the words.
I’ve mentioned lack of pubs around the ground and lack of pub culture within our fanbase for home games in another thread today… but the lack of gathering places like pubs around the ground for our fans to get songs going and heard across more of a spread of our fans is an issue.
I was in the Townley last season a few hours after a home game where a group of young lads got a really good Pep Guardiola chant* going to the tune of Tina Turner ‘Simply The Best’ for about five minutes straight. But there were only about twenty of us in there at the time and I’ve never heard that chant anywhere else since.
We get in a lot of pubs in Town but they aren’t like pubs around football grounds because singing football songs doesn’t really happen as the bar staff or bouncers will tell people to stop singing as it’s a pub for everyone not just City fans.
We also don’t have a main gathering spot in Town here fans congregate and get songs going. We do all get to Cutting Room Square for end of season title games and lesser known songs always get going there, but it’s not a thing we do regularly for every home game. Liverpool fans have things called Boss Nights where they have like a fan-singing gig with people on stage with guitars or even a band will play Liverpool songs to the crowd who all sing along to them.
City Square was always a missed opportunity with this. Instead of making it a gathering place where this could happen, City made it more of a TV show where they have interviews and punditry about the game with the odd bands who just sing their own songs for people to stand a watch rather than a gathering to get fans singing.
We just don’t have the number of pubs or gathering places where these things happen as part of our fan culture.
There’s also no fan groups who have YouTube channels where they create videos of fans singing songs so they can reach a wider spread of our fans.
There’ll be thousands of even regular matchgoing fans who have no idea what the words are to half our songs.
We’ve made up a number of songs that end up getting pinched by other sets of fans and sung more by their fanbases before they gain traction with us. Lpool’s Van Dijk song was a City song about De Bruyne first, so was their Luis Suarez song that we used to have under the radar about David Silva. The Foden song gets sung by Spurs fans for Kudus more than we sing it for Foden.
*that Pep song goes:
‘Pep’s simply the best
Woah oh oh
Better than all the rest
Better than Fergie was
Or anyone I’ve ever met’
Think you have me mixed up with someone else….You and your Morrissey bias.:-)
What’s the tune?Very true "you can't stop Erland Haaland " made it to terrace on Saturday
How about to Cherpy cherpy cheap cheap by Middle of the road?I was running through a few Chris Rea albums yesterday and was playing the upbeat “i don’t know what it is but I love it” song and got to filling in Rayan Cherki
“I don't know what it is but I love him
I don’t know what it is but I want him to stay
He’s gonna win the league with City
Rayan Cherki,Cherki,Cherki,Cherki
Rayan Cherki,Cherki,Cherki,Cherki
Properly ripping it out I was, arms outstretched and everything.
I prefer my version:How about to Cherpy cherpy cheap cheap by Middle of the road?
Last night I saw
Man City winning again
Ohhhwee Cherki Cherki bought cheap
Woke up this morning
And we’re top of the league
Oohhhweee Cherki Cherki bought cheap
Cherki Cherki bought cheap yeah!
I should just close the thread now.
As well as the door behind me….
Call ne old fashioned if you like but there's little cance of that getting going at at home. How about to Cherpy cherpy cheap cheap by Middle of the road?

I bow to your cunning linguistic greatnessI prefer my version:
Last night I heard Man City singing a song
Ooh we, Cherki, Cherki, cheep, cheep
Woke up this morning and United were gone
Ooh we, Cherki, Cherki, cheep, cheep
Cherki, Cherki, cheep, cheep chirp
Where's United gone? (where's United gone?)
Who am I getting mixed up with ?Think you have me mixed up with someone else….
Oasis stop crying your heart outWhat’s the tune?
Yes, I agree.Call ne old fashioned if you like but there's little cance of that getting going at at home.
Away games look after themselves.
We need simple, rhythmic, memorable and atmospheric songs & chants that everyone can join into.
Shirley it's not so difficult !!

Definitely well known that one now. Sang regularly in SSL3. I remember you posting it on here a few times and I always loved it. Me and my son started singing it at Selhurst Park a couple of years ago and it went on for a good 10 mins that day and has been sang regularly since, i.e I’m trying to take 1% of the credit for it ;)I made up the Mancini/Pellegrini/Guardiola song to The Stone Roses ‘Made Of Stone’ in about 2019 and it still hasn’t caught on across our fanbase yet. The Terry Phelan one would be good for Cherki… der der der der der Rayan Cherki (Phelan Groovy)… a good few were singing “Starman playing on the right, his name is Rayan Cherki and he’s fucking dynamite” + @urban genie reckons that “I’ll follow you around the country, Rayan, Rayan Cherki” to Lady Gaga’s Papparazi would work, so plenty of options for another Cherki song!Like the old Imre Varadi chant.
Loved that.
Would fit for Rayan Cherki
Maybe a bit dated now? ;)Six foot two
Eyes of blue
Big George Heslop's after you.
Colin Murray did a good show on terrace chants (505 Live) with Pat Nevin and this came up.That dreadful noise sung by Forest is just slightly better than West Brom singing the lords shepherd! The most popular funeral song of all time
WTF is that all about!
This has to be the song, but start withI prefer my version:
Last night I heard Man City singing a song
Ooh we, Cherki, Cherki, cheep, cheep
Woke up this morning and United were gone
Ooh we, Cherki, Cherki, cheep, cheep
Cherki, Cherki, cheep, cheep chirp
Where's United gone? (where's United gone?)
The 'new era' songs and chants for the Blue Wall (#NS4Singers) need to be slow(ish), simple, memorable, unique to us, and with a rousing chorus..... ie most of those I've recommended on various threads !!This has to be the song, but start with
Where has David gone, where has David gone
Where has Kevin gone, where has Kevin gone,
Far far away, far far away,
But last night I heard the city sing a new song,
Oo ee cherki cherki cheep cheep
Cherki cherki cheep cheep cherk
I woke up this morning a new hero's been found,
Oo ee cherki cherki quick feet
Cherki cherki quick fit cherk
And repeat.
