Dont think him going off was the reason we looks more potent to be fair. Sunderland were tiring, and Rodri was being progressive with his passing than Nico.He did so well to get into the position to win the game and once again failed to deliver. I just don't know with him - at this level the difference between winning trophies and coming second is those kind of moments and I don't know if he will ever convince me he can be a match winner. We looked so much more potent once he went off and that tells you all you need to know.
Maybe he needs a loan if we get Semenyo because there is a great player in there but he just doesn't give the team any goal threat when he starts. Super sub at best.
Mahrez would have scored.
I honestly think fans want him to succeed but as to your point a forward player that scores at a rate of about 1 in 40+ games is nowhere near good enough. A top wide player should score at 1 in 6 or 7 games. His pace creates both chances out of nothing. Yes his finishing was shit, so was everyone else's. He's clearly improving, if only he could get a bit of support from his own fans.
Nothing else he does matters when he can’t finish. He was our most threatening forward but it is irrelevant when there is no end product. The guy couldn’t hit the target, centre goal, 6 yards out. He is a complete waste of time and effort.
You'd think he would have learned that stopping and appealing to the ref when he gets the slightest tug doesn't work by now.
1 goal in 43 premier league appearances might be worse than Grealish managed.

He has supreme talent when running with the ball but his finishing is woeful and maybe that will not change at a club like ours that has to challenge on all fronts.
You make it sound like a tap in. He's sprinted, then stretched to get onto a ball that bobbles just as he hits it. If he'd have scored it would have been a brilliant finish, it's hardly Sterling v Lyon.Nothing else he does matters when he can’t finish. That’s what is so frustrating. He’s so dangerous in the build up but there’s zero belief he’s going to score. He unlocks that part of his game he will be a top quality winger.Nothing else he does matters when he can’t finish. I guess the point I'm making is all players at the top level have talent that we can only dream of having.Supreme talent? Their RB was ok until Doku in... that's supreme talent running with the ball. Savinho tricks but does nothing in the end.
But it’s just him all over isn’t it? If he was on 7 or 8 goals for the season, we could just write of today, as everyone misses them. However, he just never scores. He needed a huge deflection the other week to get him his goal and without a huge slice of good fortune, he simply cannot find the back of the net.You make it sound like a tap in.
