Moving to Northumberland

I don’t know much about Tynemouth and Manclad has spoken about that section of coastline, so cheers both as it’s not somewhere we had
Tynemouth is a lovely little place ..... qauint buildings, bars, cafes, shops, markets, beach .... only 8 miles from Newcastle too ..... Tynemouth attracts the visitors, but once you're there you can clearly see why.

With you going up next week for a few days, Frank, you should see Manchester on the Friday and make a day of it on your way.
You don’t want to spend all 3 days in Northumberland if you’ll be there forever soon.

Can’t beat good Manc.

We’ve only been on holiday a couple of times but felt a real connection with the place, hence applying for the job. Biggest fear is coping with the cold and the lack of daylight in winter.

It's North East England so it's gonna be a bit colder during the winter months, but you'll soon adjust to that if you're living up there .... you'll be running around with no shirt on like those Geordies do before too long ! But generally winters don't seem to be quite as bad in this country now as they once were.

With them it's the numerous layers of fat that provides the insulation

Get a lovely warm house with a nice garden and a good view of the sea. As long as Mrs Frank is happy, that's all you need for a good life up there.

All the best!

So true mate. I don’t think it could ever be the wrong decision to move and I’m fortunate my missus is a very positive person and always finds reasons to be happy. Being a blue im the pessimist and always expecting the worst.

It's an area I know well as we go up to visit the wife's family who are in Newcastle

As others have said Tynemouth is really nice but basically anywhere along that coast will be nice. If also recommend Seaton Sluice, Cullercoats, Blyth and even Whitley Bay is very nice. Depending on your budget you will even find parts of North Shields too will get you huge Victorian villas close to WB for not much.

Further up the coast places like Warkworth are stunning - on a summer's day it's a picture perfect English town. Amble, Hexham, Alnwick etc are all good too. Yo be honest if you stay away from the "rough" parts of Newcastle close to the town centre you're generally going to be fine. Even then I personally never find them as rough as the areas around Manchester.

Northumberland is a hidden secret - huge beaches, very quiet, cheap and an amazing lifestyle. Good luck and you will enjoy the house hunting!!
