Last Film You Saw

The Gladiator with Russel Crowe, watched it several times a real classic

When you think of this, Thelma and Louise, Alien, Black Hawk Down, not to mention his very first feature, when he was I think just into his forties, The Duellists — the sheer variety involved in pulling those off. Ridley Scott is one hell of a film maker. He's made a number of duds, but those will be forgotten when his successes will be long remembered.

Just finished watching Peaky Blinders film. If you are a big fan of the series, prepare to be underwhelmed.

I don't want to do any spoilers but they could not even get the main supporting cast from the series together let alone a new supporting cast for the film.

Production was fantastic, soundtrack is great, but the writing is pretty shite. There is no real conflict either. Once you get 5 minutes into the film you will be able to realise what is lacking. There is a also a big deletion of previous characters. Polly gets mentioned a few times but Jon Shelby does not get mentioned once.

It is very watchable as a standalone film if you have not seen the series and is probably more of a promotion for watching the series than anything else. It is nothing like El Camino at the end of Breaking Bad.
We’ve just watched this. I never seen a single episode of the series but my son is forever singing its praises - so I went into it cold but obviously had a very strong cast.
The pros are it’s very well filmed, looks good and the acting was pretty good too - apart from Rebecca Ferguson’s pretty ridiculous character and accent !
My big problem was parts of the plot were very thin and at times completely unbelievable. The soundtrack was good when upbeat, but far too many folksy wailing dirges which became irritating as the movie wore on. I got through it but wouldn’t give it more than 5/10 and that’s quite generous. Fans of the series will cut it more slack.

Fans of the series, (as I am), will definitely not cut it more slack. As I said, it is more a promotion to watch the series/ I have to be really careful what I say as I do not want to ruin the ruination for fans of the series before they see it.

I haven't seen the movie yet and I'm a big fan of the series. As I stated a few pages back, my daughter watched it at the cinema and said it was pointless but until I watch it myself I'll reserve judgement.

Without knowing what the movie shows, they have announced that there is a new series set in the 1950s with a whole new gang of Shelbys.

Yes, I was trying to find your post about your daughter a few pages back to respond to say she was correct. I was hoping she was wumming but unfortunately not. Again, I have to be careful what I say, but the end of the film was basically setup for a Series 2 with a whole new cast.

I'll probably watch it at the weekend and judge it then

Once again remind me to NEVER listen to bluemoon for movie opinions.

Peaky Blinders The Immortal Man.

While not hitting the heights of the series, this was still a brilliant watch, thoroughly entertaining, visually superb and a great soundtrack. Acting was also top notch as you'd expect. 8.5/10
Really liked the Teardrop track by Girl in the Year Above

The Good Boy.
Stephen Graham is creepy as fuck in this.
The lad that plays Tommy is brilliant.
It's crazy but a good watch.
Watched this last week and agree Graham’s character is very creepy .
Kept my attention all the way through , well worth a watch !

I can see it being linked with the Kray's gangland of London

The Killing of a Sacred Deer

Psychological horror film deeply rooted in the Greek myth of Iphigenia. The story centers on Steven Murphy, a successful heart surgeon, who becomes entangled with Martin, the enigmatic son of a patient Steven accidentally killed during surgery. Martin, acting as a modern embodiment of the goddess Artemis, imposes a supernatural curse on Steven’s family, demanding that Steven sacrifice one of his own children to balance the death of Martin’s father—the "sacred deer" killed by Steven.

Excellent acting, enjoyed it.

Send Help. An “horror comedy” where two people struggle to survive on a deserted island after their plane crashes on the way to a business meeting in Bangkok. An arrogant entitled male and a resourceful but socially awkward female have to interact. Quite funny in parts with a decent plot line. Enjoyable watch 7.5/10
