Atmosphere Thread | 2025/26

Best atmosphere since Madrid and in the top 5 since we moved there 23 years ago.
That’s might just be recency bias talking. There have been loads of great atmospheres at the Etihad that you’re probably forgetting about.

United 2004
Newcastle 2004
United 2006
Portsmouth 2008
Hamburg 2009
Chelsea 2009 (the one where Given saved Lampard’s pen, always forgotten about this game but it was electric)
United EFL Cup 2010
United 2012
QPR first half and then from Agüeroooo to the pitch invasion 2012
United 2014
PSG 2016
Liverpool first half CL 2018
United first half 2018
Liverpool 2019
Spurs CL 2019
United 2022
Bayern 2023
Arsenal 2023
Madrid 2023
And the comeback against Villa in 2022 I think was the wildest I’ve ever heard a football stadium for those crazy five minutes and through to the end of the game and the pitch invasion.

Yesterday had a half of football’s worth of being a bit flat. But it was fantastic in the first 17mins and the last half hour. It’s in that list above and the best this season and the best for a few years, but I wouldn’t rate it in the top five.

It’s easy to forget Slippy G was the Villa Manager that day, makes it just that little bit sweeter.

United in the League Cup of 2010 was unreal and just gave us a hint of what might be on the horizon. The decibel levels v Scousers in 2019 were possibly the loudest for me … but who knows what a packed new North Stand may bring?

We have been truly blessed to witness these.

I thought it was better than great, but we have some right miserable bastards supporting us who seem to prefer to spend the game critising certain players rather than getting behind the team, some of them really are a complete waste of a ticket, though i get its a tense game and some are anxious bastards in general but wish they didnt try drag the team down with them

Saw a few Arsenal fans who went yesterday call it an intimidating place to go.

The bald guy on AFTV said he had to admit that we made it intimidating.

So even if some might think it wasn't the best, it was still better than most grounds in this country.

I would say we're one of the few crowds in this country that can really influence a game.

Can’t argue with that and I probably am guilty of recency bias. I think the top spot goes to the United match in 2012 where the atmosphere really got going in the concourses before we sat down without any piped music. That hasn’t happened that often.

I saw the clip of that. ‘One of the best atmospheres’. I’d imagine for any away fans it would be quite hostile when you’ve got either side of you full of city fans giving it out.

We are so harsh on ourselves at times. But on our day we have one of the best atmospheres in the league

Our row was singing and dancing for a good few minutes at the end (Steward came and told people to stop standing on the seats and leave the ground). Best it's been for ages. Gave a good send off to the players. Then carried on singing out of the ground through some argy-bargy with the exiting Arse fans, police and horses. Was really good yesterday.

I moved seat because of some right miserable **** in the south stand. Used to suck the life out of the whole block

Arsenal have requested if City would play "the Angel" prior to kick off and before our usual pre match intros as per the cup final when both Then Angel and Blue moon where played prior to the players coming out, to enable them to encourage their fans into the stadium for KO and generate a "unique atmosphere" for the premier leagues likely most watched game of the season.. Sky are supportive , city are not .
Is that a tribute to 'The Angel' Gabriel in anticipation of him escaping a red card?

I remember some **** I sat next to once in the new Kippax in the 90s, gave a blow by blow commentary on every detail of the game: ‘trap it… well done. Send it… shit ball. Close him down… sweep it! sweep it! pass it.. great ball’. This went on all throughout the 1st half. Luckily for us and the rest of the block he failed to re-appear for the 2nd.

When the North Stand opened at Maine Road, I instantly relocated from the Kippax. A year later, the seats were installed and our family bought a block of four season tickets in the North Stand. The tickets were very cheap.

There was a guy in front of us who appeared to have a speech impediment. He would drive us all bonkers with his constant banter of ‘come on Buzzer’ and references to getting back to ‘Wembwey’. A year earlier we would just have chosen to stand somewhere else but now we were all stuck with having to put up with his inane chit chat.

This is pretty good

That’s the best video I’ve seen of our fans/atmosphere that.

Reminds me of one I saw that Leeds fans did a few years ago when they came back to win 3-2 after being 0-2 down against someone.

I’ve mentioned a few times since I saw that Leeds video, that we should do things like that. Just a case of who the hell would we get to do it… but having people like that do it on YouTube is great.

Hope to see more like that over the years.
