Pep to leave at the end of the season

Pep just said he got home from Stockport/Port Vale on Tuesday night and watched the full 90 minutes of PSG/Bayern.

And I'm supposed to believe that this man is tired, done with managing at club level, and is ready to walk away from the best job he's ever had and a young squad he's only just begun to get bubbling. Haha.

If anything I'd argue watching that game will have stung him big time and he'd be even more determined to build a new team at City to compete on the biggest stage.

He fucking loves it, and lives for it.

Last season was shite at times and he was struggling and frustrated. But the way this squad has developed he'll undoubtedly have a renewed energy to go and build another dominant side. He has the love of our fans, he's used to the media and it's a lot less pressurised than on the continent. There's no club politics and presidential elections where people are blamed and extra non-football pressure gets thrown in. Our owners back him, he gets the majority of what he wants player wise.

He knows he'll never get it as good anywhere else. And we know we'll never have it so good.

Spot on, it would feel like a strange time to leave the squad. I actually think a hypothetical domestic treble would spur him on even further, rather than the idea he’ll want to leave on a high.
I doubt he would make any decision in a rush or on a reaction, on the back of an end to a season, whether that ends in a treble, double, or one cup.

If he hasn't already made it, he will take the time to recover and regroup from the end of the season, and look at it then.

If he has already made it, then he will know about it, and so will the club high ups.

His demeanour doesn't suggest he is leaving, the players aren't behaving like it is a last hurrah, and if the club knew, I think it would all feel different to how it does.

Maybe I am naive and they are all just hiding it really well. But in that case, I think it is impossible for there to be any truth to the rumours beyond guesswork, because if they are that tight about it, it sure as fuck hasnt been leaked to Sam lee, Ornstein etc.

You could look at it another way it was on his bucket least to watch a live game with Stockport playing? ;)

I’d agree but I’ve always thought speculating about Pep’s future is pointless, I don’t think he’ll leave but I wouldn’t making sweeping statements either way. I’ve also felt no smoke without fire is a very true turn of phrase but can’t see him going at this point

As for the journos, I remember David Ornstein saying he’d heard pep was going back to Bayern in 2019 and Sam Lee said that Pep was itching to leave towards the latter end of the treble season, plus didn’t he say recently Guehi wasn’t interested in coming?

He won't leave whilst the decision on the 115 charges haven't been released because I have no doubt he wants to sit there looking at all the journos with the biggest fucking grin he's ever pulled. Keep delaying them I say.
Agreed, but I can't see him leaving this blossoming squad we have any time soon anyway. He's building a squad that could be the best he's ever built, and lets face it, he's had a few good ones.

Except there IS smoke without fire. We literally have it almost every season. We had Pochetino, Rodgers, Alonso, Amorim before he went rag, and so many replacements all 'lined up', with Pep expecte to leave. And nothing came of it. As I say, one day it will turn out to be right. But just now it could just as easily be and more likely is nothing more than smoke.

I'm relaxed because over the last decade I've figured out 4 habits Pep just cannot seem to quit no matter what:

1. going with wingers instead of a 4-4-2.

2. going back to out of form senior players out of loyalty over those who made a new system work.

3. panicing after every goal conceded and needing water to calm down.

4. managing City

It's an OCD thing with him.. think he'll be there longer than people especially the media think!
