Joe Hart

Think he did try mate and just couldn't. Think Joe would be the first to admit he just wasn't able to. Don't forget we then brought the human hologram in that was Claudio Bravo. Neither Joe or Pep covered themselves in glory. From reading about it a bit seems Pep had already earmarked Claudio as City's number 1 before he had even arrived
By all accounts it was ter Stegen we wanted but Barca wouldn’t sell and then gave us Bravo instead.

Weird one cos Bravo was ahead of ter Stegen at the time at Barca and then he went on to do really well there for a long time.

I also think Pep knew Joe was a major voice in the camp, Pep could not let anybody stand up to him and show who's boss straight away, Joe Hart could have played in the team and learned quickly about the new system.

But I think Joe battled with Pep from day one and there's only going to be one winner Pep
There’s no doubt that Txiki - and probably others - knew of the players, who were the "troublemakers" in the dressing room, and would have happily passed that information on to Pep.

100%

Pep had to show who's boss straight away and maybe show it to everybody else, I seem to remember a video from the training ground and Pep and Joe disagreed on something and joe walked off and that was that

Joe was brutal, but the right call. I imagine this regret has helped facilitate his acceptance for working with Donnaruma, which imo was a mistake and might have cost him a title.

I’d say all in all, he needs very few regrets. No manager in history has got so much right in such a competetive environment. Some line-ups (especially in a game in Porto) and some vetoed squad-building after the treble is sole of the things I disagree with, but he has given me the best years of my life

I still can’t believe to this day how he fucked off Hart in a breath ( no arguments)and in his last season brought in Rodney Crouch in who can’t kick or pass either , weird

It felt harsh at the time, arguably felt like it was more than an on pitch decision, he had to stamp his authority over a dressing room of strong characters but ultimately it was the right call.

Hart would have struggled, can argue he would have been better than Bravo for that season but we'd still have won nothing that year regardless and if it would have in any way changed the timing of bringing Ederson in, it would have cost us titles.

I think maybe the fact that Donnarumma has attempted it has made him think he could have done something with Joe, but it was different times back then and making a huge shift to Bravo was the right decision to implement his philosophy.

That first season was a mess all round. Joe with the teams we built in front of him would have been a colossus. Instead he was seen as not good enough for Pep so not good enough for anybody and ended up at fucking Torino.

It's huge credit to Joe the way he handled it and now talks about it. Lesser cunts have left here and have had something to say. No one better on his day.

Was musing the other day about goalkeepers and thinking how it’s over a decade since we really had to rely on the gloves to save our blushes. Not talking about the occasional save, but nights like Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Dortmund, when the opponent ran riot and Hart was simply unbelievable. It’s testimony to how much we have improved as a club over that decade that I’m not sure whether any keeper since could have matched those heroics, just don’t get the practice, thankfully. Hart, in that regard, really might be the last of his kind.

When Lionel Messi says you're the most difficult keeper to ever play against you know you're a bit good.

I remember one of the very first games Pep managed in pre season. Hart was in net, he had the ball in his hands and a quick short pass on to a defender, he chose to boot it aimlessly out of play. The camera went to Pep who looked fucking disgusted. Don't think he played another match for City.

He was absolutely right. I thought Hart was bobbins and his career after leaving City says it all. Mancini and Pellegrini were right to drop him aswell. The great games against Barca, Spurs and Dortmund seem to have lived more in the collective memories of City fans than his numerous fuck ups and deficiencies.

Bravo ended up being a flop as first choice but Eddy was 10 times the keeper.

It was a strange time in hindsight. Aguero was on the chopping block and rumours of VK too albeit those never came to pass. Pep was definitely trying to seize control of the dressing room & had form for doing it that way. He similarly got shut of Deco and Eto’o at Barca.

I've heard Vinny played a big part in Mancini leaving
