Yan Diomande

Gittens had a good season at Dortmund last season and cost £48m. I can't see this lad going for much more.
Diomande will go for way more than Gittens.

He is a better dribbler, and a much better creator than Gittens produced in his Bundesliga campaigns.

Gittens played 83 games (4300 minutes) for Dortmund in his last 2 seasons and had 22 ga.

Diomande has 22ga for Leipzig in just this season alone, in 36 games (2700 minutes)

These are not comparable talents.

The underlying numbers say he keeps up with Yamal Diaz Doku and that he’s off the ball work rate is very good, and he’s both footed. He’s Doku esque. Ball to feet and thrives in beating his man and creating chances. He’s quite incredible. But I doubt the club is in a rush it get him. Definitely someone I wouldn’t want our rivals to get.

Scousers written all over it imo.

Haven't seen enough of him, but always an extra element of risk with Bundesliga attackers

In the last 18 months alone the below attack minded players have made the move from the Bundesliga to the Prem

£116m Wirtz
£79m Ekitike
£74m Sesko
£69m Woltemade
£60m Marmoush
£52m Simons
£48m Gittens
£30m Tel
£30m Frimpong

These aren't bad players and they have chance to come good, but other than Ekitike I think most would say that they overpaid

Thats not including most of the other overpriced players like Sancho, havertz, Nkunku, Aubamenyang, Pulisic, Haller, Werner etc.

Ironically we've had the best hit ratio with Haaland, KDB, Sane, Gündogan etc.

Like what ive seen on YouTube but £100mil? That seems a huge risk to me

Agree I would say he needs another year at that level to prove it before that fee is justified by us, like Josko.

However that said others may not

Agreed, hes too much of a risk at the moment

See he's Liverpool principle transfer target, good luck to him he is only 19 he isn't going to be the Salah replacement which will be expected from him

Sesko has shown real promise 11 goals in 17 starts
Omar has played well in patches but has Håland infront of him.
Simons will come godd with a proper manager

100%.

I think signing any player is almost like the lottery, I was convinced Reinjders was gonna do what MGW does but I was mistaken.

Everyone’s extremely expensive anyway have to look at the underlying numbers and hope for the best

TBF Sesko’s real stats are 11 Goals in 30 Appearances.
4 of his goals have come off the bench

Yes did say they aren't bad, but Sesko cost £74mil, what youve said is an honest return but for £74mil I think you'd expect more

There is a reason why he was limited to 17 starts, and the 11 goals you mentioned 4 were from off the bench, so 7 goals in his 17 starts.... again not bad but not great either

My point wasn't that they are bad players, just overpriced and most have really struggled to adapt to the league

They’ve got too much to do imo to pull this off.

Need a new CB or two, a RB, LB, rebuild midfield, a LW AND replace Salah it’s too much
I think they know they wont get it right for a few more years

They need to add a forward too, Isak is too injury prone and Ekitike has a potentially career altering injury

His journey is incredible , gone from playing in Florida high school , to playing for RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga to now being one of the most wanted wingers in Europe with all the big clubs chasing him

Ah, we know the story.

Omar ripped up Bundesliga defences,
Sav did in Spain,
Reijnders in Italy.

PL seems to be a parallel universe and it's a gamble if players make the step or not. Also in terms of personality and resilience.

PL proven players are lower risk but higher price.

Letting Liverpool get him would be a mistake.

Everybody knows we can't get Olise or Yamal, Diomande is the next best thing and is attainable.

1 full season is enough evidence imo of scouting to see if a player has it.

If we keep waiting for players to have multiple good seasons, we end up in the situation with Olise where we should have bought him earlier, but we didn't and he went to Bayern.

He is the real deal. Its why PSG wants him and they haven't missed with their attacking signings under Enrique.

I think that all those players have been played in the wrong position, Savio was a LW in spain, Marmoush was a second striker in germany and Reijnders was a far more attacking midfielder in italy. Not saying they would have been brilliant for us if we played them there but we haven't given them the chance to showcase there full ability in my opinion.

I agree regarding the price tags. I think Sesko will prove to be an astute buy. It is his first season and he is young.

Agree with you on the general principal
