Rightly or wrongly the FA Cup is a much lower priority for both teams and (more importantly) broadcasters than the PL.you already do for the two finalists. So basically they have an approach right now which penalises the two finalists. Could easily have a complete midweek set of fixtures. Appalling what’s happened to the FA Cup
The multi billion pound PL broadcasting contracts for both the UK and overseas are quite rigid in terms of how many ‘matchweeks’ are played at weekends and how many are midweek. The international contract is now worth more than the domestic one and those broadcasters want weekend games rather than midweek ones for the same reasons that the CL final now kicks off three hours earlier than was previously the case - evening kickoffs are a lot less lucrative to Asian broadcasters.
Those broadcasters aren’t going to be willing to approve moving a full programme of PL games to midweek just to accommodate the FA Cup final. Not saying I agree with it but that’s the economics of today’s football.
