Elliot Anderson | Opening bid rejected (p189)

120 million for Anderson is fucking insane. 50 million and take the chance he can make the step up, maybe. But 120 million is world class finished article money and he definitely isn't that.
£50m buys you the likes of Tijani Reijnders. Who plainly isnt anywhere near good enough if you have hopes/aims of winning things.

Anderson's age profile, Prem experience and the fact he has multiple suitors - allied to his contract position - dictate his value.

What is OOP? And as he only played 6 PL games last season, and 5 of them were as a substitute, not sure you can blame him for us losing the league.
last season i mean the season before, no proper backup for rodri and we only got better after we bought nico g. oop is without the ball movement, track back pressing interception tackle

Enzo Fernandez, Rice and Caicedo all transferred for around £100m
The football genius Pogbad went to the Rags for £93m ten year ago !!! But only City distort the market.
If we think Anderson is around the level of the first three mentioned then £100m seems to be the going rate in the PL.

Villa fans, Newcastle fans etc blame the buying club for distorting the market. They never look at their shit stain clubs demanding that money, then wonder why they can't buy any decent players themselves! Probably because the next club know you've just demanded £100m for a player, so why wouldn't they do the same to you?

People need to realise romano. pushes agendas for certain cluns/agents, Tonalis agent being one, he will add on certain palyers into stories to push an idea.

The rodri bullshit today was frimly him pushing madrids agenda

Most of this stuff comes from agents, who like stirring, and the press, who want everything to sound fast-changing and dramatic.

City’s best in class executives and the representatives of a multibillionaire shipping entrepreneur are negotiating what for them is a mid-sized business deal. It’s not done until it’s done, but I suspect it’s calm, quite boring, and will be concluded in a few days. Serious people are taking care of this on both sides - I don’t think they’ll be wasting their time briefing Twitter influencers on the quiet!

Very true and similar to the housing market in Wales.
The Valley boy boy knuckle draggers also whinge when a house is bought by an English person.
They never moan about the Welsh person who sold it at an invariably higher price than had they sold it locally.

What’s with the negative reaction on paying 120m ? Do you want us to buy another scrub at cut off price and added to the Reijnders, Philips, Kova, Nico G list ?
Because the physical, mental and technical demands of playing for City are totally different to those playing for Forest.

It’s one thing catching the eye for a team that finishes 16th in the Prem where being plucky underdogs picking up the occasional result takes a different toll physically and mentally to playing for a team where losing a game can feel like a disaster.

Yes, his skill set seems quite well suited to this style of football, getting around the pitch, getting tackles in, breaking play up, looking to hit teams on the counter, but does he have the technical ability to unlock a packed defence, to find a killer pass when the opportunity presents itself? A totally different skill set.

I hear City fans banging on about him like he’s peak Pirlo or something and I just haven’t seen it when I’ve watched him. So 120 million seems like a gamble to me and a very expensive one at that.

I’m reminded of the Kalvin Phillips thread where I was assured that his stats were off the charts and he was England’s best player, and that’s not particularly a great omen.

Not my money, ergo, couldn’t give a tuppeny fuck how much he costs.
