Stadium Expansion (Confirmed)

Just had a call off the club giving me the hard sell to put my £100 deposit down, felt it was a bit much really. Women on the phone was saying a third of the new tickets are already sold out and demand has been 'unreal' and I need to put down the money down now not to miss out. Felt like saying, if it's so popular, why are you ringing me up??!

That's interesting, just how many 'new tickets' are there? Are they assuming both ends will be extended or just one when they say 1/3 are sold out?

Why did they need more than one woman to try to sell it to you? Surely one woman would have done? Did they take it in turns to give you the hard sell? ;-)

If they're trying to drum up business already it can't be going that well. If the padded seats in level 2 are going to be £1150 that will be a lot of people moving, their predictions may make up 1/3 of those sold already, and those of us without friends and family to entice may want to move too.

20,000 empty seats...

I had this too. I argued they should upgrade my Gold seasoncard to Platinum for this season and last, no interest in my demands. So, a swift feck off sufficed.

The window has only been open 12 days though. It's almost another 2 years before the proposed expansion will be completed so there's loads of time for people to register an interest, etc.

I honestly think the club needs to go with doing both ends so long as they get the pricing right and perhaps splitting the cheapest season tickets 50-50 between existing ST holders re-locating and new ST holders. While I wouldn't be confident of selling out against the so-called lesser sides, I think if they get the pricing structure right we should be able to fill it for the bigger matches.

I have to confess to being a bit concerned about the proposed changes. I have had a season ticket since 1985 - sat in the Main Stand at Maine Road and in the CB level 2 at the Etihad. I'm in the padded seats and the price has gone up and up to the point where I can't justify the next increase (In truth I could afford it but know the price will go up and up until I throw in the towel so probably best to relocate sooner rather than later) - so no doubt I will be relocated to the North or South stand - probably just close enough to see my old seat unoccupied for large parts of the game - the best seats in the house now sit empty for long periods of the game - particularly the first 15 minutes of the second half. I wouldn't change the last few years - winning the FA Cup and the League were dreams come true but I guess we have to accept the inevitable that we will all get squeezed out to some extent by the corporate bandwagon. Ultimately my 28 years of loyalty will count for very little next to some johnny come lately with a flash credit card. No point on being too hard on City this is a well travelled path and we are only going down the same road as everyone else.

I also had the call - to both my home number and mobile number - this is because I have a couple of Blue Cards as well as a Seasoncard - all sounds a bit desparate to me - maybe the sheikh really has said you can't have both ends unless you can prove the demand is there!

-- Mon Oct 28, 2013 2:40 pm --
