Do match tickets give you free train travel from Cologne? I know they do from Dusseldorf but that's in the same district as MG however Cologne's in an adjacent one.

• Die Eintrittskarten berechtigen zur freien Hin- und Rückfahrt in den Bussen und Zügen des gesamten VRR und des AVV Bereich. Frei-, Dienst- und Ehrenkarten berechtigen nicht zur Freifahrt.

In English, you can use any VRR (Dusseldorf and region) and Aachen regional transport so Buses, U-Bahn, Trams and S-Bahn hope this helps. Cologne would come under VRS but nothing to stop you buying 2 tickets, one to the edge of the VRS zone and using the free from there - just make sure you stamp them for the journey
