Every time this happened, forward players did not run into space but were too close to the defenders for Kev to give the the ball. In other words, options were not there. He can see the pass, but only when you run away from the defender.

Ditto for the Arsenal assist!

After Kun's injury, it was always going to be so much harder for Kev to break the record.

That came off the heel of the Norwich defender, am afraid. The Arsenal assist is the real scandal here.

Apples and oranges. It takes a lot to get a teammate through a 7 man defensive line. Oftentimes the assist is more difficult than putting that ball into the net.

People should stop blaming Kev for chances his teammates miss. Chances he created for them, sometimes on a platter. If two of these were scored, would people still say he was the worst player on the pitch and "deserved to be dragged off the pitch," like some enlightened mind said yesterday?

Fantastic season from him. Not taking anything away from Henry, as for his assists, there were a few KDB - quality ones, but most were short, simple passes. Wish City's conversion rate from KDB's passing was better though. He'd be in the mid twenties by now comfortably.

Also, have they gone back and checked each of Henry's 20 assists 17 years ago? None got a deflection?

Hope there's a penalty in the last minute and he passes it to Sterling, who scores. Assist against Arsenal was so unfairly taken from him.

Doubtful he will take the record. That's 3 assists away and the conversion rate of the chances he creates is like, what, 1 in 5? He'll need to create at least 15, maybe 20 goal scoring chances while he won't play 90 mins in each of the remaining games. Kun's injury will cost him.

People nowadays, footballers and others, have a very different notion of what constitutes loyalty. I don't know Kevin personally, I know Kev the football player and how short players' careers are. He's not in his early twenties. His career will be over in 5 or 6 years, that's a blip in human...
