Yes that makes sense. I was wondering why in his press conference DDR said "I haven't asked to leave, but if the club accept a bid then it may change" I can see how that looks like Roma accepted a bid and DDR turned us down.

This isn't a dig, as I like Tolmie. He said we were still interested in RVP and that didn't happen, so maybe we turned attentions elsewhere. Things change fast in football and Bobby is a big admirer of De Rossi so if a chance has arisen to sign him then I really doubt we would pass it up.

I find it highly unlikely that whilst trying to get the best possible contract for himself, RVP or his agent would make it public knowledge that he wouldn't be joining the club that, arguably, will pay the best wages. Surely he would use our interest to get himself a better deal elsewhere...
