Chelsea Thread - 2022/23 | Pochettino confirmed as new manager

I really doubt that watching a game on tv would count towards any of the stat gatherers' metrics. There are lots of stats out there which you can Google and decide for yourself on whether or not they are worthy of any credibility. My only point, which I stand by and is calculable based upon...

Chelsea Thread - 2022/23 | Pochettino confirmed as new manager

Football teams gain fans generally due to visibility and success. Chelsea have been highly visible and winning both domestic and European titles reasonably regularly since the early 2000s. A lot of those fans may be fair-weather/ occasional, but that's the way it is for all teams. When Shiekh...

According to stats on international fan bases, yes. I think maybe you're confusing local fan bases with international ones. I do appreciate that numbers and therefore rankings can vary a little depending upon the metrics used, but the point remains solid - Chelsea are one of the most popular...

Chelsea Thread - 2022/23 | Pochettino confirmed as new manager

Chelsea are one of the most popular clubs on the planet. Only Juve, PSG, Utd, Barca and Real have bigger fan bases. I don't think so. I hope not.

Not true, but good for a laugh!

I think your assessment of Boehly is a little on the cynical side. I do however agree that an overly hands-on approach isn't what we need in the longer term. Hopefully when the dust settles and we find a manager to take us forward he'll step back a bit. I suspect he will. You can't blame the guy...

I think you are bang on. I think the 300m summer spend was almost certainly a statement move. I think Boehly & Co will learn from their mistakes and we'll be back. I really don't think we're as far away from being competitive again as the media and rival fans like to say we are. We are aligned...

That's not a very high bar you're setting there!

Lukaku is done, at least as far as wearing a Chelsea shirt. He's a write-off for us I think. I'd swap him for a packet of Monster Munch. I must admit I thought buying him would work, but it didn't. Sterling I knew wouldn't work. Anyone with two eyeballs could see his powers were on the decline...

My guess as to why some Chelsea fans may not like him right now is mostly because we've been terrible since he took over. If we turn things around next season and return to being a force, then I suspect Boehly will be lauded by the SB faithful and all the pain of this season will be forgotten...

Chelsea Thread - 2022/23 | Pochettino confirmed as new manager

To be fair, I don't think that making a good impression with the City fan base was at the top of his agenda! As a Chelsea fan I did research Boehly and other potential buyers during the bidding process. My feeling was (and is) that he was the best choice, all things considered. He wants to win...

It's a fair shout. However, I don't think you can really judge any of our players at this point in time due to the chaos of the management situation. Messi and Haaland would look terrible at Chelsea right now.

Brighton were head and shoulders above us today. It wasn't close. Admittedly most teams are better than us atm, but even so, Brighton are a really cohesive unit.

Just watched our latest shit show. I didn't think it was possible, but Lamps has actually made us even worse. Under Potter we were reasonably sound at the back but couldn't score. Now we are equally good at conceding as we are at not scoring. Brighton should have scored another couple at...

Kova is a superb player. It's absolutely forgivable for a CIty fan who doesn't see him week in week out to miss his quality. As BongoBlue said, excellent in tight spaces, very hard to knock off the ball, and able to carry the ball forward. I had a Chelsea supporting plumber at my house last...

I think City have consistently been the best run club in the Prem, notwithstanding potential FA-FFP issues that are yet to be decided. We are currently looking like the worst run club in the Prem, although it's been such a crazy period of upheaval for us that I think it's maybe a little early...

I agree. That's the part of opting for Nagelsmann that's a gamble. However, I was onboard for the Potter experiment, knowing that it would likely take some time and some pain if it was going to come good. The problem with Potter in my estimation was that it was just too big a jump for him. I...

I'd be nervous about Enrique. Aside from his successful stint with Barca he's been pretty underwhelming. Nagelsmann is a gamble, but one I'd take. He's a modern coach who despite his tender age has been coaching for circa 15 years.
