Are you glad we binned the Latin motto?

Most of the badge was awful and utterly meaningless to me. The motto - drivvel, and didn't fit the 97-98 team who first wore it! A huge eagle for no reason And worst of all the 3 'continental' stars which made us look so stupid because they represented nothing when they should have been 10...

    Shaun Wright-Phillips retires from football

I was gutted when he didn't make the bench for the Cup Final in 2011. Although he hadn't played that much in the league that year he played a lot of cup games (including the semi), and I felt Mancini could have squeezed him in for old time's sake.

    Rugby League thread

Great performance from The Wire. Every man played close to the best of his ability and executed the game plan perfectly. This may cause Saints to worry a little more coming up to the playoffs...

Recent (-ish) City players you've never heard of

I was looking a City on the transfer history website a couple of weeks ago and apparently we signed an Eduard Abazi from Boavista in 95/96. I have no recollection of this at all.

Has our fan base become spoilt?

The answer, in some case, is yes. But the VAR issue is separate for me. I, and some others, are not saying City are being cheated by VAR; we are saying that it is sucking the joy out of the game and perverting it for all fans.

First City Goal You Saw Live

David Phillips banging in the only goal of the game v Boro in March 1985. Think I can remember what it was like but never seen it since, so not sure!

Deal agreed with Bayern Munich for Leroy Sane - €60m (including add-ons)

Certainly a large support for Bayern in the old East, kind of as a FYTP to the authorities during the 70s and 80s. Pattern reinforced now that most old E.German clubs are uncompetitive. Walking around Dresden and (especially) Chemnitz & Leipzig you'll see as almost as many Bayern shirts/caps...

Just for fun : who was our worst signing in the Premier League era ?

There is probably a difference between 'worst' and 'most disappointing'. Maybe also 'worst value'. I'm taking PL era to mean we were in the PL too (so not signed 96-00 or 01-02) So 'worst', as in least ability shown - maybe Laurent Charvet. Certainly on showings in a blue shirt. Most...

City calling round ex-season ticket holders - drumming up business?

I take a packed lunch for my son when I take him. He has been 8 or 9 times now; bag searched each time, let through with no problems.

City matchday presenters sacked over podcast (P6)

It's mainly the big scalp thing. The times I went to Anfield, Stamford Bridge, etc before 2008-09 the atmosphere was usually pretty poor when playing City. And vice versa, even at Maine Road the atmosphere would often be nothing special against the Coventrys of the world, but red hot against...

    Hugh Ferris/Match day presenters

I've always had a soft spot for Mike McClean. During the 90s he was a presenter on Nickelodeon. My sister (me) was addicted to Sister Sister & Sabrina so the channel was always on in my house. He bigged up City and slagged United at every opportunity when not fashionable...so he was ok by me. I...

    Var debate 2019/20

My main issue with VAR is the joy of spontaneous celebration is hugely diluted...and that is the WHOLE point of going to a match. Without that, football is more like a pantomime where you are told when and how to interact. So VAR as it currently exists hugely diminishes what is most enjoyable...

    BT Sport 19/20

After we've just destroyed united on telly I'd much rather watch ex-rag pundits have to talk everyone through it in mental anguish than an ex-blue. And I stand by the Rio comment!

    BT Sport 19/20

I like Hargreaves. Played at a high level here and in Europe and knows his stuff. Clearly not a dyed in the wool supporter of one club. I also quite like Rio on BT. :-s Especially when he has to praise City and you can tell it pains him! Rest of BT almost all awful.

    Harry Maguire

Decent player, would have improved our squad (though think Stones and Laporte still 1 & 2). However, we will generally refuse to compete with united's wage structure and transfer fees in a straight fight.
