Ex-City Players You Have Rose-Tinted Glasses For

One of my least favourite Maine Road memories, awful.

    Terry Phelan's wondergoal v Spurs 1993

Think the Wimbledon game was late in the season...a few weeks after the QF. I was about 13 and, unusually, was in the Main Stand rather than the Kippax (think my dad had picked up freebies) for the Wimbledon game. I remember the atmosphere being mutinous - calls for the heads of Swales, Reid...

    The Title Race - 2023/24

Yeah. You fancy them to see games through even if they havent played well...we've seen that already numerous times this season.

I'm not the one crying, and slagging off individual players, when the current holders of 5 (five) trophies go a goal down against the run of play.

It is, but on balance I'd still scrap it until you get automated offsides - decision within 1.5 secs

Thankfully none of these people are at the games.

Yeah, in real time I thought he was well off. But when you see the replay it was a very, very close call. With VAR (sadly) in place, imagine the pelters if he'd have put his flag up, only to be shown he was marginally on afterwards. No way he could flag that.

    Atmosphere - 2023/24

Yep. I sold my ST for today's game because 1) of the garbage KO time which is not conducive to a good atmosphere plus knackers the whole day with a family and 2) cos it's easy.

    Red Star Belgrade away.

One of my fave cities in Europe. Have a feeling it might feel a bit different on match day though.

    A Song for Jeremy

To the tune of Song For Whoever by The Beautiful South "We've got Ederson, Alvarez, Foden, Doku De Bruyne and Kovacic too (They are the boys in blue)" Repeat. He gets a mention!

    Anyone know...?

I take my 4 year old sometimes. Though he's only just 4 and not lanky! But in life your best off just looking like everything you are doing is perfectly normal and not to ask questions. There's no no-one actually operating turnstiles at most grounds. Just walk up with your lad in front and go...

What players do you remember and what players do you forget that you remember?

Put Darren Wassall on that list. And Ged Brannan. Think they were Clark Galacticos too. It was during that period that I genuinely (with reason, but still deludedly!) thought I could do a better job than many of that team. From Curle, Phelan, Filtcroft, Beagrie and Quinn to Scully, Van Blerk...

    Cole Palmer

I think City think this is the maximum price they'll ever be able to get for Palmer without him being a first team regular (Chelsea's desperation + Palmer's stock being high after two big goals)...and at 21 if they aren't sure he'll become one they are happy to cash in (especially if he is...

Premier League Games 25/26/27 August '23

It is a good result, like our 3-3 was for us last year. If they hold on. Separate point; watching Newcastle and others in final third just highlights how unbelievable our players are at keeping and passing the ball in the tightest of spaces. Levels above.

    Laporte says goodbye

Hard to see how we would have won the 18/19 or 21/22 titles without him (not forgetting the league cup winning goal in 2021 too). I loved Laporte and bit gutted we couldn't find a place for him more regularly last year (though fair dos to Ake and Akanji for playing so well).

    City’s New Kits

Didn't they do the deal quite late? I'm glad - hate sleeve sponsors. Might buy a shirt this year.

    Atmosphere - 2023/24

I think one of the important things to note on Saturday was that the fans were always in the game, reating to what was going on (unlike a few games). So there was always good noise/buzz even if no actual chanting (which dried up a bit in the 2nd half, especially the last 20 minutes).
