    Controversial City opinions

Just for the 4 v Norwich that season tbf. He helped take a pretty average squad to the brink of the title. City, on paper, had a much better side.

Robbie Fowler's missed penalty vs Middlesbrough - did it save us from relegation?

The bit of the book I remember said "I played like a cabbage in my first year and a half for City" and that the fans stuck with him and he was made up when he came 2nd or 3rd in the 2004/5 fans player of the year (vote taken before Boro pen).

    Sven

I assume it means 'sing', not 'sign'. But wild, if true!

    Stuart Pearce

There was almost mutiny in the stands at Blackburn away in the FAC QF. Awful atmosphere between fans, fights, all sorts...the worst I'd seen it since the end of the Swales days.

    Best goal scoring defenders

Yep. It was fecking freezing too. Distin was a defender who I should have scored more. Good in the air, and skilful too - the goal at Villa, for example. Though tbf for 2.5 years he did play under a manger who failed to get his team to score at home after Hogmanay.

    Stuart Pearce

I just think he is a bit dense/vacant. It was like someone put a battery in him when Durham said his name and he just cobbled something together vaguely in sentences.

    North Stand Construction Discussion

Yeah, they already did that when they converted the stadium, it's why Etihad doesn't look all that big (for a 54k stadium) from the outside. No way they could get 10 more rows in. Even 1 or 2 would mean players lapdancing fans as they took a throw in.

    Declan Rice

Or how much better all those players would have been under Pep. Except for Fred.

The Gillingham game on sky just now

The thing that comes across most is the noise when we scored, obviously, but also when Gillingham are taking pens. The boos whistles and jeers were genuinely deafening. I remember coming out of Wembley in '99 with my throat absolutely hoarse. The Gillingham players heads & legs went on the way...

    Joe Hart on City teammates

Yes. The anti Joey Barton (except that neither really scored goals).

Manchester City - Premier League Champions 2022/23

Always felt that should have been a City chant back in the Maine Road days... "Haven't had a dream in a long time, see the luck I've had..."

    30th April 1994 - The Kippax's Last Stand

First ever game I went to on my own, at 14. My dad couldn't get his shift swapped at work. Can still vividly remember butterflies walking down Dicky Rd, Claremont Rd on my own for the first time. Memories of the game 1. Steel drum band playing City songs. Songsheets with the programme. Some...

    Clive Allen

Yeah, 49 a bit of a magic number in my head for that reason too. Had an 87 yearbook with him on the front cover.

    David Phillips

I know I'll have said this before, but he was my first ever favourite player. He scored in a 1-0 win v Boro at my first ever game for my 5th birthday in the '85 promotion season. I'm not aware of camera footage of that game, so not sure if what I see in my head actually happened or not. My dad...

Bring your bananas and inflatables to Wembley.

'Seeming small time' is the most yawn inducing phrase. Just do what you want to do. Have fun. One of the best things about City is us not giving a shit about what others think.

    Seat Counters - 2022/23

Exchange between girl from the office and her friend at the water cooler next day. "I know he's married but I love him so much, and I know he loves me too...he treats me like a princess." "So what did you do last night?" "He took me to a first round League Cup tie versus Blackpool, followed...

    Ref Watch

Yeah, it was a blatantly obvious penalty from most angles. We were laughing in the South Stand as it was like the defender was stopping a basketball shot. However, when you look at the ref's angle he might not have been able to see the hand as Ndidi's own head is obscuring it....and you can't...

What's worse, horrifying relegation battles or terrifying title chases?

Relegation all day. The consequences for getting relegated are 100x worse than missing out on a title (though perhaps 2012 excepted). Interesting point made above about us never (in recent times) failing to win a proper title race where things in the balance in final couple of weeks. Was...

    Samir Nasri interview

Think Mancini has definitely mellowed. Maybe age, but I think national football is a better fit for his temperament. You don't see the players that often...players and management won't grate on each other as much. No real politics with the board - you can't buy players, what you've got you've...
