    4 | Kalvin Phillips - 2022/23 Performances

I could be wrong here but every time I watched him for Leeds he was an aggressive, pressing midfielder, not a single pivot like Rodri. I hope this isn’t a similar case to Grealish where we sign a top PL player and take away all the key attributes that made us buy him in the first place.

    4 | Kalvin Phillips - 2022/23 Performances

Not sure if he’s ever going to be good enough to challenge or stand in for Rodri. He’s nowhere near good enough on the ball for a start and he hasn’t the presence of Rodri. However, I do think he could be a good option alongside Rodri as a double pivot .

    7 | Joao Cancelo - 2022/23 Performances

There was a moment in the match when he did some fancy turn for no reason and hammered a simple pass at Foden who then miscontrolled the ball. That sums him up, the epitome of style over substance. It’s no wonder Portugal have fucked him off as a regular starter.

    47 | Phil Foden - 2022/23

How can Foden ever succeed when shite like that is posted. This isn’t a dig at you but Foden has never been on ‘Messi’s trajectory’. Messi is a one off, all time great. Foden is good midfielder with the potential to be a top midfielder. He’s not a kid anymore and has failed to nail a starting...

Southampton (A) - Carabao Cup | Post Match Thread

Teams have worked out how to stop us utilising the overlap/underlap on the wing. We don’t seem to have any other plan to score so just needlessly recycle the ball hoping for a mistake.

    47 | Phil Foden - 2022/23

The big problem for Foden is the hype that surrounds him. He’s a good PL footballer and nothing more.

Southampton (A) - Carabao Cup | Post Match Thread

Came up against a team who simply wanted it more. They outplayed and outfought us and fully deserved their win. Pep’s got a lot of work to do because we’re currently boring as fuck to watch. 5 goals in six away games, with 3 coming against Leeds, sums up our performances. We get the ball out...

He’s done himself no favours with his performances this season.

Match Thread | Southampton vs Man City (11/01/23)

I’ve never understood the calls for him to start in central midfield. He’s not strong or physical enough for the role. He anonymous in the position.

Match Thread | Southampton vs Man City (11/01/23)

Not one positive to take from the first half. Philips looking very rusty but he deserves to be cut some slack. He’s playing in the hardest position in a Pep team and needs time. Gomez seems like a top lad but I think it’s clear that he’s not a left back, nor is he good enough to play for us...

That’s a bit unfair. We’ve put loads of passes together. Sadly they’ve all been backwards!

Another clear yellow card not given. I guarantee that we will get the first yellow card of the game for a similar challenge.

    Gareth Bale announces his retirement

If this is not sarcasm then it is the worst take I’ve ever seen on a footballing matter on this forum. How on earth is staying at a club with the same amount of major trophies as Stockport County over the past decade a better footballing move than joining Madrid?

I’ve lost count of how many snidey dirty fouls refs have allowed the opposition to get away with against us in recent games.

    47 | Phil Foden - 2022/23

We’d have qualified from all of those CL games had the refs done their jobs properly.

Thank fuck it wasn’t Mahrez or Grealish playing like KDB or Foden in that half.

Lack of pace on the wings

Could try a combo of KDB, Grealish and Rodri or Bernardo, Grealish and Rodri.

Lack of pace on the wings

I think it’s more a matter of movement than pace that’s our big issue. I also think our issues go way beyond the inclusion of Mahrez and Grealish and they are just convenient scapegoats. Everyone of our players who started against Everton, bar Haaland, want to receive the ball to feet. None of...

Everton (H) | Post Match Thread

Arsenal remind me of everything we were 4/5 years ago. Not only do they have the technical ability to dominate possession, but they have pace and a directness that we’ve lost.

Everton (H) | Post Match Thread

It takes two to tango but we are an incredibly boring side to watch at times. Both sides deserved zero points from that showing. It’s also ironic how we concede from a sloppy pass, when we spend 80% of the match favouring passing backwards to keep possession rather than taking a risk.
