Gareth Bale announces his retirement

He's doing the right thing. It was obvious at the world cup that he's a shadow of the player he was in his prime. His legs have gone. He can concentrate on his golf now.

A nice way to remember him.....

That bicycle kick is one of the best goals you'll see in a game of that magnitude. Puts "Wazza's" shinned effort against us in the shade

Good player in his Spurs days. From a footballing perspective going to Madrid wasn’t good for him although from a financial perspective it was obviously very, very good. I expect he’ll turn his attention to trying to make it on the European PGA Tour.
He was immense in the 2014 Champions League final against Atlético. And then scored one of the best, if not the best, Champions League final goals ever in 2018.

It was only really from 2019 onwards that things started to dip there for him.

If this is not sarcasm then it is the worst take I’ve ever seen on a footballing matter on this forum.

How on earth is staying at a club with the same amount of major trophies as Stockport County over the past decade a better footballing move than joining Madrid?

Comparing his physique in 2009/10 to how it was 10 years later always made me wonder whether his willingness to put on more muscle mass contributed to the number of injuries he had towards the end of his career. Was a skinny runt when he first broke through although undeniably a cracking player at his peak.
