Match Thread | Swansea vs Manchester City (21/09/16)

I knew they were rare so I looked at wikipedia and at least according to that, that's only Gael's second goal for us and 4th in his professional career?

Not a great half but very pleased with Aleix Garcia.

Kevin De Bruyne - 2016/17 performances

This is an absurd statement. He had an assist in each of the three games prior to United.

First Team Photo, who is in or out the first team?

For those who didn't watch the snaps, they showed all the players getting up close shots as well and then about 5 different versions of the team photo with more of the coaches, more of the sports science people, ambassadors, one with some kids/mascots and one with the Chairman. Yaya's absence...

This group of players-better than the 2012 and 2014 vintage?

This is very true. The depth of the league at many of the clubs, not just the top ones, is staggering. The difference even between now and 5 seasons ago is quite substantial. With that being said, this looks like the highest quality City side to me in terms of talent. Obviously we have less fire...

    Leroy Sane - 2016/2017 performances

I love how elegant he looked. Just glided along. He's going to be a handful for most defenders because he's a big fella.

    David Silva - 2016/17 performances

I have long said I thought he could play at the highest level until he was at least 35 because he doesn't rely on pace at all. It'd be nice if he were younger, but I don't think it's necessary.

    Claudio Bravo signing confirmed

He'll play right away -- no doubt in my mind. I'm sure Pep has been talking to him about expectations, etc. in advance.

Does Yaya still have a role?

There's no doubt that coming off his 2013/14 season, City could have flogged him for a big bit of cash. At the time, I said I thought he should never play for us again. The way he dragged City's name through the mud was nothing short of unacceptable. That's a case where in FM I would have told...

Gabriel Jesus - 2016/17 Performances - Palmeiras win the league title

Both goals were fantastic. Thought for sure he'd lay the second off to Paulinho. So did Ecuador. What a shot.

    David Silva - 2016/17 performances

Speaking of that.. Dembele just absolutely clattered him and sent him flying. Silva just kinda sat there, shrugged and looked at the ref.. Dembele was not pleased at the reaction.

    Squad Numbers - 2016/17

They put out the squad list on the Premier League site and Zinchenko and Moreno are listed as U21 players in the squad (as are the other U21 loanees). Gabriel Jesus is not listed so those assuming he simply hasn't transferred yet are probably correct. Again, the lack of inclusion on the number...

Scored for Spain and looking like he might have another in him.

They're now registered with the playing squad though. The others are not.

    Squad Numbers - 2016/17

The website didn't confirm one way or the other, but it's very likely he was signed officially as of July 1 and then loaned back to Palmeiras. The 19-year old has signed for Manchester City FC despite strong interest from some of the biggest clubs in the world. He will join the team in January...

    Squad Numbers - 2016/17

They haven't had numbers yet. It looks to me like the only people listed are the ones who've officially played for City before and received one. This is why Marlos Moreno and Zinchenko aren't listed as well.

Does Yaya still have a role?

I'm a little surprised Juve never moved for him. Think he would have been an ideal Pirlo replacement. Perhaps he can move to NYCFC next summer if one of Lampard or Pirlo retires? As far as this season goes, he's got very little to offer in all likelihood. Just too lethargic.

Joe Hart (joined Torino on season long loan - Official)

You're free to believe whatever you want, but there is 0% chance Joe ever had a possibility to start regularly under Pep Guardiola. He is the exact opposite of everything he wants and expects in a keeper. Pep is not going to come out and throw one of City's most beloved players under the bus and...

Joe Hart (joined Torino on season long loan - Official)

I think he was being nice in the press. Joe is a beloved player, Pep's not going to throw him under the bus publicly. He'll say some nice things because there's no reason to torch the player. I don't believe for a minute that Pep ever considered playing Joe because Pep is a voracious student of...
