    Al Jazeera vs. Sky

It streams via broadband, I can get it installed for free as a BT employee but haven't bothered in the past as couldn't justify paying Sky & BT Vision subscriptions and there's a lot I watch on Sky that BT Vision doesn't cover. I might go for the basic package now though if I can get the footie...

    Al Jazeera vs. Sky

Well, that FFPR done and dusted then :-) 80% more revenue from TV rights. Platini can stick that up his arse when PSG get 50p and a pack of fruit pastilles for their TV rights, bwhahaha I wouldn't mind betting that the climax to this season had a big bearing on the value of the PL rights deal...

    Non City Related Rumours/Gossip.....

Does FFPR not apply to PSG then? :-) in 2010-11 we were 12th in the money league without CL revenue (will get posted this year) at £169m, we should be comfortably over £200m this year, probably breaking into the top 10 and maybe even getting as high as 8th. <a class="postlink"...

    United disadvantaged due to bias!

Didn't someone post the number of yellow cards/fouls given against us prior to the 1-6 and after it. It was something stupid like 6 yellows before and 24 afterwards in the same amount of games. We didn't change our style of play or our players (apart from normal rotation) - definitely looked fishy.

    Anyone panicing yet?

Tbh this is a good point. Surely by now we no longer have to worry about paying a players wages for a couple of months by signing them on the last day of the transfer window. Arsenal signing Podolski, rags signing Kagawa and that kid Powell, Real always seem to sign people up early (usually) -...

    Anyone panicing yet?

Well, I'm not - I'm probably only just starting to feel a little nervous. It would be nice to see a couple of players come in but I'd even not be too concerned if we picked up a few for squad depth that aren't "superstars". Any more than 2 incoming players would concern me as, especially if they...

Euros 2012 Impressive players transfer discussion thread

Let's get that Shevchenko guy, looks like he knows where the net is :-)

    Gareth Bale

Don't know why - his defence for the tax trial was that he was an illiterate, naive, thick bastard who doesn't have a clue what money he earns or what he does with it and that he is too stupid to operate a mobile phone, computer or a fax machine. Sound like a shoe-in for the next England...

Steve Bruce offered Hull City managers job

One advantage for Hull is they can profit by the Scum old boys network and get some decent loans for the championship, if the rags have any decent youngsters left if the rumours about them not signing new deals are correct. I still think they've made a big mistake if they offer him the job...

Martin Samuel on England and Auschwitz

I've been to Majdanek, south of Warsaw, one of the lesser known camps but they still managed to kill over 100,000 people there. There's a covered area with just a huge pile of ash (about the size of a volleyball court and maybe 10-15 foot high) - all that remains of the people they burned and...

    New stadium for Chelsea?

Not sure if it would have suited the celery chuckers - the area's a bit ruff isn't it? I'll get my coat.....

    Gerrard on Joe.

Joe Hart is the best goalkeeper in the world - Paul Merson a couple of weeks ago. OK, not the most ringing endorsement seeing as the source is an alcoholic crack addict drink driver but a sign of how far he's come as those sort of comments are becoming if not commonplace, at least touted around...

    Mancini should recieve more credit.

Every manager makes team selection mistakes, tactics mistakes, a crap signing or two (or more) and substitution mistakes over the course of a season or two. What counts at the end of the day is what the team has achieved. The proof whether someone is a 'good' manager is based upon their team's...

Job interview at City - Got the job!!!!

Re: Job interview at City This, being a fan is all well and good and worth mentioning but the main thing they are going to be looking for is your capability of doing the job. Don't forget there's probably going to be a fair few fans applying, you need to make sure you get the job based on what...

    City and FFP article

Some back of a fag packet figures below. Net spend of £48m (probably a little lower as some undisclosed outgoings). Which adds about £10m/year amortisation. Getting rid of the players we did probably means amortisation stayed the same (minus £10m for the ones that left). <a class="postlink"...

    City and FFP article

I'm sure the PL Champions can scare up a few more sponsorship deals (worldwide audience record for a PL game for the derby and I'd love to see the figures for the last game of the season - sponsorship gold there) - not counting any sponsors bonus' kicking in from winning the PL. The rags got...

I read somewhere he was given the captains armband after a sub in one game - is this correct?

    Sign martinez now

Continuing off-topic :-). I think Fabregas is being lined up as a Xavi replacement and Barca are happy to ease him in gently and give him lots of time with the squad to pick up on how they play.

    Chelsea Threat

On paper it sounds good, however, all of these three have to produce the goods in a new league reckoned to be the most difficult in the world. I think they probably will but there's always a risk. Actually, thinking about it, if only one of them produceds the goods they'll have spent better...
