    Alexei Navalny dead

Just has a scan of the high street via google maps (it's like a cheap, quick holiday). Looks like a pretty spot. Worth a weekend away or more like an afternoon trip?

Cheers Gaz - will give that a good read. As it happens, i planned a 12k tonight but finished work late and my energy has dipped of late (sleep is an issue). My calves felt tight too (which is rare). Just did a 6k instead and will rest from running till the weekend now I think.

    Artificial Intelligence

We're starting to use more and moe GenAI tools at work, in fact lots in my industry are embracing it. There are many from the the dev/test/tech/SEO from my company know a lot more about this than I do. We recently had an AI week (but much of that is using from a policy angle tbf). I recall that...

I know lots of runners who are in very good shape. I consider myself in decent shape too. But those park run/running event photographs are a worse representation of us than those self check ou cams in ASDA. I saw a pic of me running up a slight incline last week at my local park run. Boy oh...

Did someone mention increasing distance of around 10% per week? Currently running back up to 11k mid week but want to start pushing back up to 15k soon (and then half marathon).

Yeah. River running looks great on instagram, but in reality....^^ that. Always wear shades if I'm running in warm weather in those parts.

Just to clarify: you're talking him personally and not his constituency?

    Coffee Beans

Swansong are a brilliant Manchester roaster too. I also use Origin (love the Cornish link), Harmony, Hasbean. I do love a Vietnamese coffee every now and again. Coffee flavoured liquid fudge:)

The death of the cobbler - the ultimate proof of consumer society

I bought some of the those Redwing 875's about 8 years ago. I'm still breaking them in. Solid units. The sole isn't the best (looks the part but wears down relatively quickly) so I had it replaced by a cobbler near Lymm last year. Gave the boots a thorough saddle soap clean and wax and they...

    Restaurant raided in Manchester

Just spotted this on twitter. Looks like the flash Musu Japanese (style?) restaurant was raided tonight. Few city players (and Pep) dine here and looks like a very expensive outfit. Must been an awful shock for diners...

Yeah. I normally go for a walk in the evening if I'm not running. But tonight it's pissing it down. So I may as well do the same walk as run thus getting less wet (that's how it works right?). I do have Yoga class at 8 mind....but recovery days may mean different things to different people...

Good point on increasing mileage. May do short one tonight then lay off tomorrow. I do some form of exercise every day (weights, yoga, pilates etc). Weirdly, my meniscus isn't hugely affected in running, only when really flexing it in yoga/kneeling down etc. Was a weird issue to pin point (but...

What's the consensus on running [almost] every day? I've started to find my groove again so thinking of stepping up. I can't make track interval sessions with the club (on a Weds eve) at the moment, but will resume those at some stage. I may also try and stick in some early morning runs inthe...

    Rishi Sunak

Brilliant series this (the second one in the 'Things fell apart' podcast). I'd urge anyone to give this a listen on the evolution of recent culture wars. The first series was also excellent.

    Alan Partridge returns

Last series was hit and miss. Almost parody of Alan for the most part. I've heard a few of his radio skits which are pretty good at times and I love Tim Key. But peak Partridge for me was 'I'm Alan Partridge'. Up there with the best UK comedy. Different writers I guess.
