Running thread

Did my usual Castlefield to Exchange Quay circular run thingy this morning as is my habit when I'm staying in Manchester for a match.
It seems this morning that all those annoying little flies that hang around in swarms have appeared, presumably because of the mild weather.
Ended up returning back to my digs with loads of them in my eyes and stuck on my face and chest. Annoying little shits!

Yeah. River running looks great on instagram, but in reality....^^ that.

Always wear shades if I'm running in warm weather in those parts.

Did someone mention increasing distance of around 10% per week?
Currently running back up to 11k mid week but want to start pushing back up to 15k soon (and then half marathon).

Me too in spring and summer when it's insect-tastic, but wasn't expecting to encounter them in February!
And I've definitely never been on Instagram or have any intention of doing so!

That 10% rule of thumb is for weekly mileage, I would go with how you feel yourself, there's so many so called rules and whatnot it's hard to keep up

Pretty much all of the "runners" on Instagram are knobheads, I seem to be constantly getting different ones saying how they are tired as they are up at 4am for a run..... well go to bed earlier then you ****.

There was a woman running Isabel Trail Parkrun with a selfie stick a few months ago, constantly taking photos of herself as she ran. I just don't get why some people are so narcissistic and self obsessed. Very weird behaviour!

Unfortunately it's the world we live in mate, the me me me generation have normalised themselves, there's a guy called Gary House on insta that rips the piss out them, he's about the only one worth taking seriously.
